I was hoping someone could solve a mystery for me. Recently I have been contacted by a couple of people that do not show up in the profiles listed when I do my search. These people meet all of the search criteria but their screen name isnt listed. In one case they viewed my profile and it was not shown as being viewed by them. Does any one know why this happens?

Status: offline 		was this "contacted you" actually just members who have viewed you? That really isn't initiating contact, its just viewing... people look all the time without ever wishing to establish contact.

Also I don't think deactivated profiles have the ability to send emails. (unless they deactivated after they sent the mail)

Status: offline 		Ok. But in one case they contacted me while I was here, I read the email and checked for their profile which wasnt there. At most 5 mins passed and I didnt contact them. So I couldnt have been offensive LOL. I wasnt even given the chance. Very strange. Can you still operate here with a deactivated profile?

Status: offline 		Some people don't want their profile to show for one reason or another, just as you have the option to keep certain profiles from showing up on your screen. Those people can still e-mail you and their screename will not show up on your "who's viewing me" screen. Not sure why people want to do that. Maybe they are just leery of letting everyone have access? 
Edited to add...Maybe it's a compliment they thought enough of you to make the first contact.

Status: offline 		why not just focus on the ones that aren't playing around with being hard to get or anonymity

seems like if anyone was really interested in meeting others they  *wouldn't disable their account until AFTER they made contact

sometimes people deactivate their profiles as they get a bit tired of answering endless streams of not altogether insightful email. that, and perhaps they just take breaks.

edited to add that they also might have their profile down for routine maintenance.
