it just never ends...not the conflict (we all know that's to go on forever since before day 1), but the b.s. that flies out of those mouths.

"Yes it [the war] is [worth it]," he [simian] insisted, saying that the conflict was vital to deny al-Qaeda a safe haven and ensure the safety of the American people's children and grandchildren. {insert harps here}

On Monday, speaking to the BBC, Gen Petraeus (head of US forces in Iraq) also called for patience, warning that fighting the insurgency is a "long term endeavour" which could take decades.

Well they need to keep this country in an eternal state of emergency to operate under the war ppowers and emergency acts to circumvent the constitution to do whatever they want and we are uneducated enough to let them do that.

After all we let them have a blank check by paying federal income tax via the instrument of the 16th amendment and the federal reserve act with NO OVERSIGHT!

another 50 years of nibbling aay at the constitution should pretty much wipe it out completely.  Soon we will need a permit to exercize our first amendment rights...

uwinceismile -> RE: safety for generations to come (7/10/2007 4:35:22 PM)

the insurgents tend to see conflict in decades, even centuries.
that part of the world has had conflict, longer then we have been a nation.
it is us in the west, with our fast food,, instant pay pay per view etc, that expect war, and everything , to be wrapped up by the 11 oclock news....we are in for a long haul,,,,,they have patience, and desire....and they will teach every new generation of thier people that it is righteous to fight us...while we constantly speak of pulling out, cutting and running .
its gonna be a lonnnnnnnng night :(

i fail to see any logic, much less sense, in how this little conflict is going to keep generations of amerikans safe from any harm.

the bit about decades i see as honesty.

I am really starting to like you, Real0ne...... mostly.

The past 2 presidents have made so many executive orders, that I am surprised we still have a democracy.... oh wait we dont... wasent it supposed to be a republic anyhow? Ok well I am surprised they can still use their fingers (maybe that is why Clinton chose a cigar..?)

Declaring the "state of emergency" is the catch all now for complete domination. When are people gonna line up and stop this nonsense? Oh wait, yeah they have to not only give a damn, speak intelligently, and do research, but they have to avoid law enforcment wire taps, spying, and getting themselves blacklisted. They have to figure out the least of all the evils to vote for, if that is possible, compromise principals and avoid corruption, just to be heard. Oh and that is not even to be one of the chosen to be paraded before us in an election of the national committee platforms choosing. We the people.... my ass. If I hear this all is for "America's freedom" too many more times, I will implode. ( Course that would make them happy, wouldnt it, loud mouthed broad that I am.)

Ah, Realone....where oh where do you come up with this logic? Let me...Set You Straight'...fascism, to exist, needs an enemy. That simple. Geo. Orwell predicted this in his 1984 novella. Fascism must have an ongoing threat to jusify it's very existence. Hitler, created the Reichstag Fiasco, seized absolute power, and the enemey then was the communists, and the jews. Each threathened the very existence of the German People, I don't remember the exact term...kitch, kiln, kinder....something like that  home, hearth and children, the ploy then was to protect the HomeLand, the FatherLand, The Mothers of Germany, The innocent Children of Germany. To return Germany to it's once great status in the World.

If the Jews want a War, we will provide them with a war......so now, we have come full circle.

The very same ancient propaganda is here now, alive and well, revisited, refreshed, the old, made new again.

The consitution will not last for 50 years, the main crux is, the born american only holding presidental office, must be DONE AWAY WITH,...Arnold is the positioned pawn in that chess game. Once overturned, then any one, with the big bucks and connection, globally will rule, Arab, Chinese, Greek, Austrian, etc, any who can be aligned to the super elite corporations.

Now, as far as history goes, Bush will be remembered as the greatest president of the USofA...money could buy.....er, that is...next to Arnold.

Oh, I see it. I'm just so used to it, I expect nothing else. Gotta hand it to Bush, though. His ability to say the shit he says and keep a straight face is pretty impressive.

Hey DesertRat; I agree, ...not like his father who did all he could do to keep from laughing into the camera every time he address the nation. Once he choked up on the words "American Taxpayer" diatribe.

By the way, Bush just appointed A General William Ward to head up the 'African Command'....is this a thingie an outgoing president would do?

You read it right..."African Command'

We have a 2nd Amendment so we don't HAVE to be Slaves and be "Protected" by anyone.

dragone -> RE: safety for generations to come (7/10/2007 6:59:43 PM)

Well Fargle...evidently the 2nd was not enough...we had to have Patriot Act one&Two, Homeland Security, The Iraq Two, the veto of the Iraq Two, pullout resolution, statements of...for generations to come...the creation of the Africa Command.....the 2nd, simply did not do the job.   Not to worry however, Bush et al, will fix the constitution.

zactly!  what the hell is congress doing passing all this power onto the president?  Are they saying they are no longer needed?

The one that sickens me is executive priviledge. a bunch of criminals pardoning each other and where the hell is congress?  Where is the american people?  Where is the outrage?

Then people who vote for the the "lessor of 2 evils".   Then do a protest vote for pete sakes.... they respond:  oh but one of these 3rd party wackos could really screw up the country!!!  Really?  Can they really screw it up worse than bush is?

i think the biggest problem we have with the government in the us is the lamerican i dont give a shit just sit here and bitch about it and do nothing about it people.   They take the its hopeless attitude.

Could you imagine if the 50% of the people who gave up and do not vote decided to vote 3rd party and voted in some forest gump for president how fast it would get their attention?

Imagine if we all had our own little list of write in people passed around person to person and voted them in and outed the congress and house replacing them with more forest gumps.

The government has become one big damn law office and the founding fathers would roll over in their graves if they were told we had to file for FOIA, freedom of information just to get our bitches, the government to tell us what they are doing and then they still keep secrets from us that do not have a darn thing to do with national security.  (like why our *whole damn* air defense was at drunkin doornuts on break drinking coffee while planes were taking out the wtc)

anyway now i am ranting LOL

There are ways to fix it but everyone is simply to "duh" or cowardice to get it.

dragone -> RE: safety for generations to come (7/11/2007 8:36:25 AM)

RealOne...just goggle Reichstag...then you will have your answers to the power given to the president.

Now, people on these threads are pretty tired of reading my referrals to Nazi Germany..I do suppose...citing as irelivant to discussions of todays happenings. If you are filling out application, to become a citizen...among the language and questions; is asked...Are you, or have you ever been a member of the Nazi Party. Asks about any affilation specifically to the Nazi party. If my association is considered irrelvant, they why in 2007, is the government asking for information, on the Nazi party?

Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it.

After the Reichstag fire, Hitler had passed into Law, the Enabling Act - a special Law which gave the chancellor power to pass laws by decree without involvment of the Reichstag, powers to remain in effect for 4 years, then eligible for renewal.
Also passed was the Reichstag Fire Decree, and Emergency Act.
All in All, it transferred supreme power to Hitler.

We have the creation of Patriot Act one&Two, Homeland security, now under military rule, the creation of the Africa Command, all to deal with the monstrous act of the 9-11 terror incendiarism, and the ongoing terror threat of Al Qaeda.

Those who forget History are doomed to repeat it.

Have a nice day.

maybe if people would know their history others would not have to repeat it.  i frankly am sick of people being so obliviious to it.  So we can all be sick of each others popsts on here that suits me just fine.

you are correct and right on target.   i just poisted in another thread talking about a police state.  people do not see that we ARE in a poplice state as we are modeling ourselves after mother englnad and soon wil have cameraas up on every street corner. 9as if we dont already)

i suppose those who say they are a nazi on those applications get special priveldges like so many did from ww2.   oops i bet everyone thought we hung them.  NOT

Point is we are repeating it under the flag of "personal" convenience and personal freedom, so while they are giving us credit cards and the right to stick our dicks in anythign with a hole they are robbing our lands and our constitution.

land of the free.

You fail to see the logic because there isn't any logic. There were no terrorists in Iraq before the invasion, the invasion generated the terrorists in Iraq. Think more in terms of 1984 and constant war keeping the population in a state of fear and belief that big brother is keeping them safe. You might also find it worthwhile reading up on Strausian philosophy and keeping the American people in a state of fear to keep them in control. Rome's excuse for fighting empire expanding wars was that every war was a defensive war that had to be fought to defend Rome. As with Rome so with the US. As in whose interests such wars are, follow the money, they aren't fought in the interests of the American people as a whole.

OrionTheWolf -> RE: safety for generations to come (7/13/2007 7:24:44 AM)

Yeah this is BS. Why don't they just own up to the fact that another real reason we are there, is to oppose the domination of the region by Iran?
