Morons that disable the right-click menu on their websites....

And I'm starting to see this more and more....
First off, do people that do this on their websites actually think it works and protects their data? You know how easy it is to get around that trick? It's so easy a caveman can do it!

It's a bit insulting to go to a website and then find out the dumbass webmaster thinks all his/her visitors are thieves. Its unprofessional, annoying, and it doesn't work. It's like locking your front door and thinking that nothing in your house can be stolen now. However you forgot the fact that a burgler can still bust through your window and not only take whatever he wants, but walk right out the front door.

And just so everyone knows....I wasn't stealing, I was just trying to open a link in a new window. But since the webmaster felt it necessary to disable the right click. I did download her images and sent her a nice e-mail with her images attached just for spite.

think of it like a dropped cell call.

there are a zillion websites. it is arrogant and presumptuous- for any webmaster to believe a visitor only wants THAT SITE.

i have 3 computers and 2 1/2 are brokesh- likely due to bugs and viruses.

we are tech pioneers. thats the thing- just as the west was won- so too do we conqueer the tech frontier.

in the end tho- we still will burp -fart- and sweat= so the glory of the tech age might be over rated.

Lets hope it saves us- and not doomsdays us.... as the pendulum swings we really DONT KNOW- how it ends- evolves- etc.

Smile.

What I've found is that if right click is disabled you can still go File>Save As. Put it in My Documents and it creates a subdirectory for images and whatever. You can get right to them. You can also usually still use View>Source and edit the offending code out of the page. But it doesn't matter, everything but the body of the page will be findable in Windows Explorer in that subdirectory. And usually even if you can't view source, usually you can rename it to a TXT file and edit that out of it.

I am not sure if Winfile will work in XP, but you can usually send the file in an email to someone with 98 or older who will be able to rename it and lose all the file restrictions. I've had files it would not let me delete, I just went into winfile, found them and renamed them. You must use a DOS compatible filename at that point but so what. Name it Xxx.HTM or something. Then you can work on it later.

Really the only things I can't crack are files with the newer encryptions that require WM9 to play, or those PPV files. I ain't even interested in MOV files, they play like shit anyway. I have even cracked XP Pro Corp's NTFS file encryption, and XP DID IT FOR ME !

Security is a fucking joke. I have been cache cruising since the days of blowout.com. One day I'll find the flags in PDF files, but that is not a priority.

They can keep very little from me in the way of files. And when it comes to pictures, I can shift on the fly up to 1900X1200 or whatever resolution and do a screen capture if need be. If I want it I shall have it.

That's why it is called "Windows." Easily opens and easily breaks.

Cyber, lol I've run into that too! (Fuckin porn sites!) How do I get around it?
Put in in simple terms, I'm not computer literate.

Several ways to do it. Probably the most effective way is to do a screen shot by pressing alt + print screen. And that saves the screen to the clipboard. So now just open up Paint or some other image program, paste the image, zoom and crop it up if you like, save...all done.

There is also 2 other little tricks depending on what kind of code they used... Go down to the status bar at the bottom of IE. Right-click and hold. Then move up to the image and release. That should break most of the codes.
Second thing to try....If a pop-up box shows up when you try to right-click.... right-click and hold, then while holding click OK on the box with the left-click....the menu should display.
You can also do what Termynator suggested by saving the webpage to a file which copies all images along with it to your drive. Then using Windows Explorer, you can go right to the file.

You can get more technical by viewing the site's source code and locate the code for the pic. Find the pic and type the address in a new IE window. The image will be displayed with the right-click enabled. If the webmaster also blocked that, there are more than a few ways to get around that.
You can also get even more technical by searching the FTP or directory listings. But that gets much more complicated.

There is also an crack available for the firefox web browser that supposed to work really well. But I've never tried that one.

More likely that they only think a few of them are...

Oh this aggervates me to. The website I buy henna from has a pop up that says stealing is bad every time I click the wheel on my mouse, try to high light hard to read font, or simply try to open a new tab. I would just stop buying from them but they have the best henna I've found.

IIRC Firefox allows you to select which browser features can be disabled by Asshat Webops.
