SirDraven -> Thoughts on Responsiblity (7/8/2007 10:33:26 AM)

Those that know me know that I am a very serious person. As such I take this lifestyle very seriously. Its not a hobby. I am not after kinky sex. It is truly a lifestyle that I choose to embrace.

The leather lifestyle has a history, a culture, protocols, hierarchy, even its own museum. It is complex yet simple. Its core values are Honor and Respect.

What we do in this lifestyle is dangerous. We all have a responsibility to be safe in all that we do. At the very least we owe to ourselves to live our lives in a Safe Sane and Consensual manner

Recently I was part of an incredible event. It was both amazing and shocking all in the span of a few hours. This event was a semi public gathering. At the event there was dinner, demo, meet and greet and then of course the play party.

The energy at the event was awesome. I was drawn into suspension scene that was very intense. Have I mentioned I like intense? There was so much positive energy flowing it was good. Then came the accident.

It is not place to talk about what happened. Instead I will talk about Responsibility. To me being a Dominant Male allows me to wield a lot of power. Through this lifestyle I am allowed to express myself in ways I might not get the chance otherwise.

Being Dominant also brings a lot of responsibility. So much so that I sometimes wonder if I am able to handle it. To quote a very close friend "Having a person kneel at your feet in service to you should be the most humbling experience you ever face"

Bottom line is simple... Never assume anything. Never punish in public. Never ever punish in anger.

OK your thread really doesn't make sense or go anywhere.

We're all responsible for ourselves, and we're all responsible for holding to the expectations and commitments we make to a REASONABLE extent.  SOME of what we do is fairly  risky.  I don't think what we do is riskier than what a lot of troops oversease are doing.  I don't think what we do is as risky physically as a lot of sports that get played.  And ACCIDENTS happen, sometimes just due to crap in life happening.  The bottom has as much responsibility to make it a good experience as the top.

And I have no idea why you started talking about punishing.

Level -> RE: Thoughts on Responsiblity (7/8/2007 10:40:31 AM)

Or, at the risk of beginning to sound like a broken record, never punish. Period. Correct.

I do agree, there is a great deal of responsibility, on both parties part.

LA is right, the punishment part just kind of sprouted out of mid-air.

I personally don't find that to be a humbling experience...

However.. as a Master... Knee at the feet of your slave.. wash their feet and thank them for everything they give you.  This to me is the most humbling experience in my life.    Being reminded and grateful of what you receive is always a good thing in my opinion.

MHOO314 -> RE: Thoughts on Responsiblity (7/8/2007 10:55:56 AM)

To Me, being a member of the human race demands responsibility---it is as key that I do not drive drunk,  I do not punish My UM in anger---as it is to respect the person under My whip--I see no more or less responsibility because of My proclivities---

I agree with LA, BOTH people have a responsibility.

It makes sense to those that are involved.

mmmmmmmm and this response makes even less sense... but I suppose I am not involved

kaprecia -> RE: Thoughts on Responsiblity (7/8/2007 3:18:39 PM)

Responsibility is a two way street.  To put the responsibility on one and not the other is a mistake too many make.  I am responsible for my own actions always.  If something does not feel right it is up to me to say so.

Accidents can and do happen, even then it is the responsibility of both parties and does not fall exclusively on the Dom.

Punishment is not something I recognize or participate in.  I am not a child and do not need to be punished to submit.  Correction when I have done something that a Dom feels he needs to correct, sure.

Its some private message to whoever was involved in whatever accident hes talking about.

We can figure it out, but we need the Leather Decoder Rings.

Never engage a public crowd in a personal matter...isn't there a phrase for that...oh yea, airing your dirty laundry...i don't want to see your dirty undies and i don't want to waste my time with esoteric posts...

It irks the hell out of me when people allude to something then stop themselves short and say - sorry can't finish explaining what i started - why they hell start in the first place, how is any of this going to make sense in your context unless we know what happened in this "accident" [:@]

LaMistressa -> RE: Thoughts on Responsiblity (7/8/2007 5:11:40 PM)

So, someone had an accident while being punished during a suspension scene? Huhthewhat?

Archer -> RE: Thoughts on Responsiblity (7/8/2007 5:38:40 PM)

Don't bother folks my Leather Decoder Ring still didn't make much out of what he was saying other than disjointed impressions.

And as most here know I speak fairly fluent Leather.
