stella40 -> There's no such thing as true love... (7/8/2007 9:42:49 AM)

I just received the following e-mail in my Inbox:

"There's no such thing as true love, just needs which need to be satisfied."

What do you think?

Level -> RE: There's no such thing as true love... (7/8/2007 9:45:32 AM)

I disagree totally, Stella. True love is rare, I think, but it exists. Now.... I guess that can be considered a need as well, though.

True Love does exsist!  People that say there is no true love, are just bitter.

Raechard -> RE: There's no such thing as true love... (7/8/2007 9:57:05 AM)

Someone that writes that it don't exist can never have felt true love and thats sad I think. I don't fear that it doesn't exist only that I may never feel it again.

I'm not sure if I stole what I just wrote from a film script.

Love is a blanket and indefinable term for a host of human interactions, motives and needs. It is a state of psychosis, where a person becomes emotionally (and maybe pysically and materially) dependent on a projection of another person and not the intrinsic nature of the person in question. Which is why Nietzche could say with some truth 'A pair of powerful spectacles has sometimes sufficed to cure a person in love.' and why many a person declaring true love ends up wondering what they saw in the object of their desire in the first place.

Please don't get me started, I'll have to get mean.  And I really don't want to do that.

True love does indeed exist....it happens and it hits you like a ton of bricks...the sky is bluer and the grass greener.....everything is just a bit brighter. when the person walks into the room you feel them in your heart, in your soul....sometimes you just know one anothers thoughts and feelings. i truly am sorry for anyone that never gets to have that feeling.  it is the best feeling in the world. it may be rare, but it is so worth the search. call me a romantic, but i do indeed believe true love exists and i hope that i am fortunate to find it again, only this time maybe it will be returned...

edited because i can't spell worth a shit when i feel passionate about something!!!

Couldn't say I know what it is really but you do read about couples where one dies and the other one just gives up the ghost.
Usually older people but not always.

Then the opposite occurs where people profess undying mutual love ....then split up after 6 months.

"Love", like "friend"... is just a word.

What either may mean to the individual, needs to be communicated and reciprocated.

...or something like that...

I don't know why we give those drive-by, one-line emails so much credence.

LeMis -> RE: There's no such thing as true love... (7/8/2007 12:50:06 PM)

I personally think that "it" may exist...
but not for all, and definitely not for me, lol

P.S.  I am not bitter, just being realistic  [8|]

credence?

nah, just a prod to introspection... not necessarily everybody's kink

Well, don't ever give up, my friend.

LeMis -> RE: There's no such thing as true love... (7/8/2007 12:58:09 PM)

Oh I don't give up, giving up is for quitters, I am not a quitter.  [:)]

Thanks!

I didn't think you were [;)].

You're welcome.

LadyEllen -> RE: There's no such thing as true love... (7/8/2007 1:00:02 PM)

There is certainly no such thing as unconditional love.

So maybe true love is when all conditions are and remain mutually fully satisfied? Though that would be a rare occurrence indeed, and as life moves on and we and our circumstances change, we may find some conditions no longer satisfied on one or both sides. True love which endures such changes is true love indeed, but that would be even rarer.

Albeit of course, that if people start out with pretty low expectations then they might more readily find themselves in a relationship fully meeting their comparatively low conditions for love. Although that could just be a way to rationalise my lonesome status of course, in that no one is good enough for me.

Or, come to think on it, deserves me......
