as i sit here, watching the news, sipping coffee, delightfully mellow after my sunday morning herbal therapy, im thinking.

as i watch abc list the names of soldiers killed this week, and look at their ages, realizing most of them could be my child, it makes me so sad.....

and i think i would vote for someone who would stop the madness over there, just stop the babies from coming home in body bags.........even if i disagreed with them on other issues.....

ive always tried to vote with my head, and sometimes allowed my gut into the equation. now im afraid my heart is taking over, because the only things i have listened to in this entire program, is how will they stop this madness.

i will sweetly wait for the "this is the reason women shouldnt be allowed to vote" replies-lol-and any other thoughts you care to share.

I'll leave the flames to big meanies like Level, Seeks.

It's easy to feel that way, especially when the media decides to only tell the parts of the story that fit a particular agenda.

Rich makes a good point, in that many times, the media paints a story in a certain way (and it happens without the media people meaning too, at times), eliciting specific feelings from the news consumers. It can be a long, tiring process trying to find the truth, or "truth", sometimes.

There isn't anything wrong with wanting the soldiers to come home, seeksonlyone, nor is there anything wrong with a soldier believing that being there is helping the Iraqi people.

The mistake, I would point out, is flipping on the news. We started the day watching the Logo channel and, since Sundays should include some "spirituality", we flipped on a National Geographic show on the 'Lost Years of Jesus' and the disappearance of the Ark of the Covenant. It was your choice of shows that caused your distress.

We've progressed through all the steps you mentioned and included a nice long Sunday morning sex-capade .We're about to progress from here to the pool area for a refreshing dip and a spicy Bloody Mary. After brunch we may move on to a frozen mango Margaretta or two; and perhaps another dose of CA legally prescribed 'therapy'.

Anyone in the neighborhood is welcome to stop by, as long as you leave the legitimate concerns that Seeks raised for another day. "Sunday morning thinking..."; should be limited to 'spiritually uplifting' enjoyable pursuits.

oh i have talked to soldiers....a few of the teachers and one nurse at my school have husbands serving.......and they all say they feel like theyre doing good for the people there....and i support the troops 100%.....i was in the army for 3 years, and have wondered if i would have joined had this been going on......

our nurses hubby is a battalion commander....he came and spoke to our kids at school....and i almost cried. the way he answered the questions, telling them how they werent there to kill people, but to help them.....he was the perfect person to talk to elementary school kids and his convictions about the good were doing there were real.

i was able to ask him, in private and point blank, do you think were doing any good.....and he told me yes. he told me of the many kids and women he has seen blossom, stories he has heard from his men and women about acts of kindness from iraqi's, hugs they have rec'd and thank yous.

the few folks i have spoken to that are over there now, or have been, all speak of seeing good we are doing, and are proud to have been a part of it......a couple of them also wonder, like me, if it will last when we leave....lately i have only been able to see it through the eyes of a mom i guess.....and it just breaks my heart to see the babies being killed.

time will tell i guess....it always does......meanwhile-who mentioned a swim and bloody marys? that could make me feel all spiritual and stuff i am sure.

i swear im giving up tv soon......watching a show on pbs about the civil war, they tell of how, for $300, a man could buy his way out of service, or hire a substitute to fight for him....

There's a lot of good reasons for the unfair things people see in the world today. A lot of connections most people don't get.

When you don't understand something- when it seems horrible- it might be. But there's normally a reason for it. It may not be much comfort, but I'd ask you to consider that horrible things might happen to prevent greater evils, or to bring about great goods.
