...Isn't one of the mian traits of a slave or sub is that they want to be completly dependant on their master and give up responsibilities? Well, for some people I think so..It takes strength to understand and accept what makes you and your Master feel good, but you get used to it.
I think the Master has more strength, since he needs enough for the both of them.

Sinergy -> RE: Are subs/bottoms stronger? (7/7/2007 9:19:50 PM)

There is an asian proverb / concept which states that a bamboo tree is much stronger than an oak tree.

When the hurricane comes in, it blows the oak tree over because the oak tree resists the wind.

The bamboo simply bends to the might of the hurricane and survives.

Just me, etc.

Sinergy

p.s.  On a related note, I tend to think these sorts of threads that try to prove team A or team B are more whatever are rather silly.

No, not really.  Getting involved in a relationship generally means having more responsibilities than just being single.  Specially if you're with the type of master who expects you to pull your load and make THEIR lives easier- can't just lay about being dependent there.

There are many many instances in which the master relies upon the slave for strength, and goes to them to find peace and stability.

@lucky:
Ok you have a point ^_^
I understand some subs, mainly slaves, are given chores and errands to do every day, but it sounds like an average day to me. Even as kids, we are given jobs to do.
But, the dom needs to satisfy the subs needs, punish them as well as show them love, and know when to draw the line. They need to keep it interesting, they can't just give the sub some work to do and forcefeed cock all day...
It probably depends on the individual though....

I really hope there aren't too many immature Doms out there beating their sub for no reason...o_o;

Are subs or bottoms more often mentally stronger than dominants?

Often I see insecure dominants who try to hide their insecurity by constantly showing off their powers over subs.  Even in gatherings such as munches and even over other subs than their own.

This insecurity trait seems to be much less frequent in subs in the scene.

Is this just my skewed view?  what's your take on this?

The submissive is no stronger or weaker then the dominant.

 The difference is how they show their insecurities.

As many know the submissive personality is passive… so it wouldn’t make sense for the submissive to strut around playing the, “Look at me I’m so submissive game”… It’s just not in the submissive personality.

On the other had the dominant thing to do is to receive outward gratification when insecure.   So, the insecure dominant will try as hard as they can to prove to every how good they are.

 They way a submissive, usually, deals with insecurity is much more internal. They beat them selves up. They might hurt them selves physically thinking that for what ever reason they need to punish them selves.

 What I’m trying to say is that the submissive can have just as many insecurities as the dominant, but the way they express those insecurities is very different.

depends on the individual dom.  your generalization is just that, a generalization.  I'm sure there are some doms that are very insecure, and there are subs also that are very insecure...

imagine a masochist who doesn't think well of herself, and has a very low self-esteem.  having her dom treat her innapproiately feeds her belief that she is worthless......

Are subs/bottoms stronger?

Who would win in a fair street fight: Megatron or Optimus Prime?

An equally valid question I think.

Just because its a silly question to you.....that means she should not ask? Thats silly.

Perhaps. Though you must note you're assuming things I didn't say. I said it's a silly question. Not that she shouldn't ask. So I'm afraid the silly notion was in your head. ;)

And by the way Women handle pain waaaaay better than men. I'm sticking to that opinion too.

You know what? I'm not sure how this relates to anything. But, at this point, I'm just going to mark this off as sexist and leave you be.

Damn prejustices.

I completely agree. As a matter of fact, they share a common answer: Chuck Norris.

Holy crap, I'm still working on even how to respond to this...
I'm a submissive, and trust me I am far from passive.
What you just described is what I call the 'doormat sub' or 'train-wreck about to happen sub"
btw I'm far from passive but I can honestly say I don't strut about saying 'look at me' I have pride in myself and that is completely diffrent than what you are describing.

The most fulfilled submissive men and women that I have met all have incredibly strong, confident personalities, and no they are not Switches. They just understand and know who they are.

You are right tho, submissive and Dominants all have insecurities that is why we are all human, how we deal with it is based on individual personality triats and past history. Not all submissives are emotional shut ins and cutters.

Most, no matter what the title do keep their insecurities to themselves, after all who wants others to know their personal weakness?
