canupleaseme -> How refreshing!!! (6/29/2007 2:22:24 AM)

I hope not too many people in the uk were affected really badly by the floods we had recently.  I unfortunatly got hit and have had to move home and lost all my belongings that were downstairs!!!  (we are all ok )

I just wanted to comment as normally posts are filled with bad stuff happening, how nice it was to see how communities come together in crisis and help each other.  There is a bail hostel at the top of where i used to live and the occipants are usually crack heads and people tend to stay away.  It was amazing to see them come together and help rescue people from their homes and move their stuff (without stealing anything).  It was awful on monday I have never been so freaked out but watching my local community pull together and help each other and be so caring was just so refreshing and nice to see and I felt it needed commenting on [:)]

I am sorry that you suffered loss during the flood. I am glad that you made it out safely. I agree, it is amazing to see how people can work together and accomplish good things during an emergency. After being in areas hard hit by hurricanes, I know what a difference it makes. Best of luck to you and the others in your area, that your life will be back to normal soon.

Glad to hear you and yours are alright but very sorry about the loss of your home and property.
Please keep us posted on your progress and I wish you well in finding a new home.

My father woke to three foot of water in his house. Four inches of rain water just overwhelmed the local drainage system, with another inch of rain forecast today it seems it is going to be a long wet summer.

Hi thanks for your replies.  I have fortuntaly got a new house to rent and its so lovely. I think in a weird way for me the storm happening was a good thing I'm certanily better off where I am now.  Its sad to see my old neighbours though now some of them have been told they cant return to their homes for an least 3 months becasue of damage.  After seeing a few people in the news who lost their lives because of it I feel very lucky that me and my um are safe and sound.
I think the community spirit was amazing Im still very impressed with how everyone pulled together, I guess its something you dont see untill something bad happens

I think people just naturally want to do something to help in an emergency like that.
I live in "The South" now.
You break down on the side of the road here and three pick-up trucks with ten Rednecks stop to see if they can help.
