Has anyone else read James Patterson's "Kiss the Girls"?  I'm just wondering if anyone else got turned on by the rape/torture scene descriptions that most people would find discusting. I loved one in particular but it would be against the TOS to discuss it here, but it involved warm milk if that rings a bell for anyone.

Glad i'm not alone.[;)] I didn't know there was a movie, but i'm guessing it left out a lot of the good stuff.

Yup... i've always had a bit of  a weak spot for dangerous, nonconsensual stuff... that's what happens when you don't have access to safe, sane, and consensual BDSM porn in your formative years [:-]

I am on a Patterson kick these days. I am reading everything that has Alex Cross. I am yet to read Kiss The Girls though. I saw the movie and am looking forward to reading the book.

I've only seen the movie. Most generally books are better. Perhaps I'll have to look into it.

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Kiss The Girls (6/28/2007 8:15:37 PM)

Not that book, but many other books and movies I've enjoyed for similar reasons.  I loved Nancy Drew growing up for all the drugging/kidnapping scenes in them.

Never saw it. Never read it. It never even played in my hometown because at the time it had been released our town was suffering from a real life monster who was stealing up middle and high school girls, raping them and killing them.

Because of that, I can't think of the story without wanting to retch uncontrollably and kill things who deserve to die.

HeavansKeeper -> RE: Kiss The Girls (6/29/2007 2:10:47 AM)

I'm familiar with it.  Rape is the one crime that I cannot stand. It made my lips curl and my canine teeth show.  My stomach turned to knots, my blood turned to magma with passionate hatred.  I find it unforgivable.  The very sound of the word forces my hands into fists, my eyes to squint, my pulse to quicken, and blood lust to overtake me.  Continuing to think about it, my body gets heavy and bulky, as though weighted down by chains and plated mail armor.  My breath is all growls, low and hungry for vengeance.  My vision becomes tunneled, the evil is shown as red and white, as though my eyes were dripping blood, while everything else is simply black.  No perfume overpowers the scent of anger.  The room smells stale like dried blood and red hot metal.  The defeaning buzzing whine blocks out all sound.  The adrenaline blocks out all pain.  The anger blocks out all logic.  It's strange how such a short word does that.

Dearest Pet... I still hate Vonna Harper's J'ron.

Alex Cross is played by Morgan Freeman in the movie, and it is well worth a watch.  However, in my world, it is a "renter,"  but not a "buyer."

bandit25 -> RE: Kiss The Girls (6/29/2007 3:22:06 AM)

I agree it's def a renter.  Most of Patterson's books are decent reads, tho.   I used to like the Alex Cross series more than I do now.  And I'm not wild about his books when he has a co author.

windchymes -> RE: Kiss The Girls (6/29/2007 3:56:10 AM)

I really enjoyed "Honeymoon", but after reading this thread, I'll definitely have to go get "Kiss the Girls" [:)]

Book, that is, not the movie!

swtnsparkling -> RE: Kiss The Girls (6/29/2007 7:59:01 AM)

I've seen the movie a couple of times. I thought it was very good.
I've read a few books by James Patterson- I recall  after reading my first Patterson book I had the biggest crush on Alex Cross. Then in this movie that part was played by Morgan Freeman ( he's played to role in other Petterson books made to movie) I like Freeman Alot but my crush is gone lol

gypsyfirefly -> RE: Kiss The Girls (6/30/2007 8:38:57 PM)

"Kiss the Girls" made the rounds in the office I was working in when I lived in NC.  Interestingly enough, all the employees were women, and we all loved the book.  And yep, most of us went to see the movie together too. [;)]

When I finally got it to read, I was so engrossed that when my neighbor knocked on my door around 12am, I was so startled I almost wet myself. LOL  I didn't even realize how late it was (and that the only light on in my apartment was the reading lamp). I was blushing like a maniac too when I opened the door because I had just read the "warm milk " scene and was sooo surprised by my reaction to it. [:)]

The movie was good (and of course the "interesting" parts did not make it to the movie - no surprise there *grin*), but the book was so much better.  However, as a movie based on a book, it followed the story really well (or so I thought).

<forgot to add a set of quotations>

becca333 -> RE: Kiss The Girls (7/1/2007 12:42:21 AM)

The movie seemed pretty ordinary - I'll have to get the book.

HaveRopeWillBind -> RE: Kiss The Girls (7/1/2007 8:05:27 AM)

I was not a fan of Patterson until a submissive friend sent me a copy of "Kiss the Girls." I was disappointed but not at all surprised that the movie version came out totally omitting the warm milk scene. Ever since she sent me the book my friend has been after me to recreate that scene with her.

I suppose that sooner or later I'm going to have to acquire an herpivore. <sigh> The trials and tribulations a dominant must endure to satisfy some submissives.

HalloweenWhite -> RE: Kiss The Girls (7/1/2007 8:36:33 AM)

Only see the film, didn't think much of it. Will have to go to the libary in the morning to get the book.
