1) Everyone I was competing against when I first started out in business 30 years ago is either dead...or incapable of sparring with me.

2) All the chics that thought I was "too young" 30 years ago, now think I'm "refined". (My number is listed, just in case anyone was curious).

3) All my "laugh lines" (because as men...we have laugh lines...everyone else has "worry lines") just fit nicely....and for some reason, as men get older, we age rather soundly.

4) Beer tastes better. Actually, it always tasted good...but for some reason it just tastes better as we age.

5) (Thank God for #4...see above).

6) My pants don't fit quite as well...but my shirts fit waaaaaay the fuck better.

7) That '78 Pinto station wagon (with the orange front 1/4 panel, blue hood and the really cheap Yokahama raised white letter tires that I was certain no one would ever think were any different than expensive GoodYear radials) that back then I thought was the total fucking shit, has been replaced with something I really couldn't care less about...but the world seems to...(and I'm okay with that).

8) I can finally afford something better than Denny's (which back then I was hopeful the chic I was with couldn't care less {but you knew she did} and now, I actually prefer Denny's because they don't give you any pretense (but the steaks are better at the other place), nevertheless...Denny's won't park your car.

9) And of course, the obvious; my bedroom set actually got to the point wherein which red hollow bricks aren't used to set my box springs, and my shelving is finally attached to a wall.

So there ya go....

I liked it better when getting older only happened to "someone else."

I wish " beer tasting better" really was true. I dont suppose its changed much but with age/experience comes discernment, for some anyway, and you begin to realise what crap a lot of beer is.
I speak of UK draught beer where the way it is kept, Lager possibly excepted, really affects the quality of the served product. Temperature seems to be critical.

I do not intend to give up the adventure tho' lol

I have rarely been one to take anyone's shit, but as I age I learn to be more graceful about pointing it out.

people think i am a dumb hick even in hicksville- until i start talking.

however being older- less fear of loosing my job - family over anything.

happily ever after lies witin me- not mr right

a quicky isnt as good as chocalate trouffle coffee.

if someone gives you crabs- as an older person- i can find the wording to fix it. [placing no blame]

i can more easily size up a user.

i stay out of bad situations.

i avoid chicagofest- in fact- i avoid all big cities.

"bring me my checkbook" actually means- the issue goes away with the stroke of a pen.

the sex drive has diminshed abit- so it isnt all about the chase. the chase reminds me of a dog chasing his tail.

i love the shocked look when i casually mention i retired early--- lol many will work till they drop dead.
