LadyHeart -> RE: Effect of the Internet on the BDSM scene... (6/27/2007 7:38:13 PM)

What the internet did for me was to affirm for me the fact that "normal" people did this sort of thing, it wasn't for "others" - freaks and misfits who frequented low parts of the city and did thing with drugs and plastic raincoats. It wasn't just fiction. It was you and me.

It has helped sex shops come out from dark alleys and for people to have a forum to discuss things that weren't mentionable. It has given genuine information along with all the BS. It's not delivered all it's promised, but without it people of my generation would still be in hiding, thinking they were sick and twisted. And for that, I am truly thankful.

Yes i also tripped over bdsm via the internet about 10 years ago.  I was scared and curious at the same time.  Thankfully, a chat room i came across had some very sweet subs who guided me to sites with good reading on the subject.  i've been hooked ever since, and was more than pleased when the time came for me to step out from behind the screen, and into a real life dungeon.  :)

ps.  i've met in person and am still friends to this day with those kind subs.

I stumbled into this lifestyle online a few years ago.
I was fascinated and intrigued, so I am thankful for the internet to exposing me
to many activities and a lifestyle I would probably have never discovered.
As in all things, it takes a certain level of maturity and common sense before you
become involved with strangers.
But you need that whether you meet people online or offline.

The net showed me what I was, but it certainly was not my first exposure to kink. I probably would have gotten here eventually, but hey, I waited long enough as it was.

If it weren't for one stroke of ill luck some...oh, 23 years ago...I might have been here a long time ago.

Do you seek out others OFFLINE?
Do you READ books on what you found?
Do you ONLY look for porn or for pictures?
Have you done ANY research as to what you think you might enjoy?
Is this ALL online for you?

Why not, ill answer these...

Do you seek out others OFFLINE? : Yes
Do you READ books on what you found? : Not books yet (because i havent seen any), but anything i find online about the lifestyle.
Do you ONLY look for porn or for pictures? : No. Also to get ideas, and discover other things i may be interested in.
Have you done ANY research as to what you think you might enjoy? : A lot.
Is this ALL online for you? : I have had a little RL experience, but not as much as i would like. This is mainly due to not finding a Mistress that wishes to teach/train me... but things are looking up :)

Trampler -> RE: Effect of the Internet on the BDSM scene... (6/27/2007 8:20:29 PM)

Lets see, I was about 14 or so when I started watching 'Real Sex' on HBO, I remember a few early episodes touch on  BDSM.  Then I started reading erotica when I was 16, (Black Lace Books, and Masquarade, if your curious.) that had some minor bdsm elements.  Then in HS, I had a friend that wanted to be sub to a man, but domme to women,(she admitted she wanted to Dom me.) she said I would make an excellent sub.  Anyways............While internet has certainly made my research ALOT easier, there is no doubt in my mind I would of found ways to find things out.  Prolly by making friends in the Gay community.  (somebody who may know somebody who might be looking for a sub,so on, so forth.)

About 3 years ago my boyfriend at the time introduced me to BDSM porn and I fell in love. That was my very first introduction to this lifestyle or anothing to do with this lifestyle. It was wonderful and I never looked back.

I  remember seeing a young black domme and her husband on the show real sex.  The internet definitely exposed me to bdsm  involving real time.  I only wish I knew about it years ago.

ExSteelAgain -> RE: Effect of the Internet on the BDSM scene... (6/28/2007 6:54:17 AM)

I started real time many years ago, but didn't get into it like I am now until the internet. The internet puts you in contact with so many and makes discussion easier. Once I found bdsm on the internet, I began to intellectualize things and look at the scene in an artistic way. I don’t think we would be on CM if it wasn’t a valuable tool.
