suberic101 -> An interesting question... (6/11/2005 3:02:56 AM)

but are there a lot of poly-relationships where, say if there are kids invovled, do the parents/triads choose to homeschool? I've always wondered this, as it seems I've read poly lit. and it seemed that homeschooling was practiced... Just curious...

I haven't noticed a particular trend either way.

I HAVE noticed that non-BDSM poly families choose to homeschool.

I have a friend who is currently has His own poly. He has 10 kids including His slaves and they all go to a public school. Now as for homeschooling, that is a choice that is made within to poly.

As with just about anything, you won't find anything that is true of ALL poly households (except that they are poly). My kids have attended both public and private schools. They weren't home schooled. Having slaves in the house did give them built-in personal tutors, however, which was a distinct advantage for them relative to their classmates.

Oh, ok i was just curious. Yeah, I don't know any poly families but a lot of them that i had read about homeschooled. It's just interesting, because i was homeschooled and there was nothing poly about our family, lol. So, that was why i aksed.

It is up to the family. we are not poly, yet, but wish to be and our children (we already have 2) are homeschooled. i was homeschooled and we decided that we would prefer our children to be homeschooled as well. Most of what i have read about has been poly families that are extremely religious and that is why they homeschool. As for us, we chose to homeschool for educational reasons, not religious. i do not know of any other homeschool poly families who are into the lifestyle.

My children were home schooled at a time when I led a very vanilla though unorthodox life. With my current wife of 10 years with both of us actively seeking to create an extended poly family, we have no children to homeschool however I know many homeschooled families through a local home schooling network. What is common among home schooled families is an open mindedness and lack of acceptance of orthodox standards, particularly in education. I would guess that the incidence of homeschooling is greater among all families who are brave enough to stand out from the norm or want something better for their children than the standard fare offered as mass education.
