I'd like to hear from those of you who have designed web sites using a free e-commerce shopping cart program.  We have investigated a few but am interested in others' experiences.  Thank you.

We use a paypal account for our site.  PassionateSinsations.com
Looked into a lot of them.  I was close to purchasing a cart for around 700.  Then
a few people I know who own and run businesses already pushed me over to paypal.

Said it was the best place to start out.  I've had no problems so far with them.
My cost, almost free.  20 a month.  People can pay via paypal account or credit card.
Yes, no matter what it routes you through paypal.  Though you don't need to have an account
with them to place an order.

Thank Gloria.  We have looked at PayPal and are seriously considering it for this customer. I'll check your site out later today.

HI, I used paypal for a while, until they changed their adult products policy, at which time, there were many stories in the "adult" industry about accounts being frozen, cancelled etc. Please check out the latest details at
http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/use/index_frame-outside
As far as shopping carts go, most of the free ones are functional but not easy to tweak and a pain in the rear if you have a lot of products. One of the best I have researched is OsCommerce, you can change the look of your site with templates, colours, etc etc. I keep meaning to overhaul my shop with it, but the prospect is daunting as I have over a thousand products and to go thru all that again is a nightmare waiting to happen. But its worth taking a look.... http://www.oscommerce.com/

Best wishes
Lucy
