"China has agreed to cancel a "large margin" of Iraq's debt, a move which Iraqi officials hope will lead to one of the first investment deals in rebuilding the war-torn country. "The agreement comes at the start of a week-long visit by Jalal Talabani, the first by an Iraqi president to China since the two  established diplomatic ties in 1958.

"The visit is aimed at boosting economic ties, particularly in developing Iraq's oil fields." http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/FC31B307-47A0-44DC-ADCE-35DC0C183D65.htm

Maybe 'tis but some face-saving way to smoothe trading issues with USA?

As If Iraq were some independent state...

You gotta hand it to the CCP, you know.  When was the last time they made a major foreign-policy error?  We've done enough for a few thousand history books since the last time they really blew it.

That's due in part to America being everywhere, trying to do everything...... China largely has set back and build itself up, bided its time.... now, we see them showing up in Africa, and the Middle East....they believe they should be a premier power on the world stage.

Their time for errors may be coming......
