Lol...talk about hypocracy!  Bork is a leader of the "tort-reform" movement which seeks to restrict the individual's right to sue for damages.  A personal injury attorney who reviewed the case has pointed out that Bork, despite his claims of "extensive" injuries, never spent a day in the hospital!  He surmised that the "surgery" mentioned in the lawsuit was probably just to drain the bruise.

Judge Bork sues New York social club over fall

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Rejected U.S. Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork sued an exclusive New York social club on Thursday for at least $1 million over injuries he suffered in a fall last year while trying to climb onto a dais.

Bork, 80, said the Yale Club in midtown Manhattan failed to provide a handrail or stairs leading to an unreasonably high dais and that he fell as he tried to mount it, hitting his leg on the side of the dais and his head on a heat register.

Bork had been invited to address a banquet room for an event sponsored by New Criterion magazine on June 6, 2006.

He suffered a hematoma on his left leg that later burst, requiring surgery, extended medical treatment and months of physical therapy, the suit says.

The injuries caused Bork "excruciating pain" and he still walks with a limp, according to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.

The Yale Club, which was founded by and for Yale University alumni, declined to comment on the suit.

Bork was nominated to the high court by Republican President Ronald Reagan in 1987 but was rejected by the Democratic-led Senate following debate over his conservative judicial philosophy.

Before then he was best known as a Justice Department official involved in the "Saturday night massacre" of the Watergate era, when President Richard Nixon ordered his attorney general to fire a special prosecutor who was investigating the White House.

The attorney general and his assistant resigned rather than carry out the order, leaving the task to Bork who agreed to do it.

Yep…..He’s the cloaked evil-doer that liberals discredited through a vicious smear campaign. They genuinely turned his name into a verb, which essentially means "to implement the politics of personal destruction".

Anyways…. When I read Bork’s positions and hear him speak as an occasional guest on a radio program, I find him refreshing, in that he always seems to be very transparent; much unlike recent appointees, Roberts and Alito.

Do you think anyone who would follow an order to fire a Special Prosecutor investigating their boss WORTHY of any respect or compassion?

If he were drowning, I'd throw him a bucket of water.

the matter is more of a code issue. if the place hade more then 2 stairs a handrail is standard code.

80 year olds can fall on a throw rug- and numerous ways- in the tub.  hope[not] he has fun getting pain pills!!!!

It was a PODIUM. And his problem were there were no stairs at all, and the height was too much for him to safely manage.

It is HIS RESPONSIBILITY to make sure he doesn't attempt physical acts beyond his capability.

While this is true, I believe the point of the thread is that this man did what he could to prevent everybody else from filing lawsuits like this, and then he ends up filing one himself.

Kinda makes him a poster child for the word "Irony."

Oh, I'm aware of Bork's ideas regarding Tort Reform, and it's implications.

It's just more indication, to any who needed it, of his true moral character.

He's the FIRST PERSON to say that the injured party has a duty to NOT get themselves injured.

Is that the opening sentence of his lawsuit?
