I had to serve at a counter once. I had to sit at the secretary's desk in a family friend's office and tell all the people trying to sell them stuff that they weren't buying. Most people did not react well to being told that by a teenager.

He pretty much laughed him out of the office. I have since been encouraged to be extra creative when sales people are being difficult. It tends to prevent them from returning in the future.

I did buy girl scout cookies once. She was a wee little redhead and I just couldn't say no.
