Not "all" the Earnhardt faithful[;)].  I certainly have no issue with it.  Anyone who really knows any of the history between Dale Earnhardt and Jeff Gordon knows that they were close and not enemies.  It was the fans who tended to make it a rivalry more so than the drivers did but that's almost always the case.  Jr. also has no issue with Gordon and even came to his defense and spoke highly of him when some Earnhardt fans were upset that Gordon broke one of Earnhardt's records recently.  The ones upset about Jr. going to Hendrick Motorsports are operating under the delusion that there's this big Earnhardt/Gordon rivalry when in fact that's not the case.  Some of us like both and they certainly aren't arch enemies.  It's just false drama created to make it fun for some, I guess.  I really look forward to seeing them both drive for Hendrick.  I think Jr. is really going to excel[:)]............slave luci

I never liked Jordon... till after he proved he was only human too. His divorce from previous wife shocked me after his goody two shoes attitude when he first entered in the race. Although I admired his driving abilities... his off track style was too much to stomache. I think that's where alot of folks were getting steamed... Jordon sort of brought back the art of driving. Between him and Earnhart SR... they showed that they can race like the old days.. but more legally. Jordon came in not being happy in his spot and was just determined to move ahead.. and that's what he did. I'm still not a major fan of his... but I still admired his jumping in and showing everyone... he was...and is.. a NASCAR Driver.

I like Dale Jr., I liked his dad (even got to meet him once!), I like Martin and Harvick. Gordon's not a bad driver....I think I'd like him more if he'd just stop whining about how bad his pussy hurts.

OMG - that's the worst insult I've heard anyone give him[image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m24.gif[/image].....lol......You got to meet Dale?  Wonderful - wish I could say the same.  I don't usually glorify celebrities or think they're any more special than us regular joe's but for some reason I just always had a special spot in my heart for him.  Still do and for Jr.  I used to really despise Gordon but, as I said earlier, I've mellowed and he's not so bad these days[:)]........luci

I guess I'm kind of the oddball here. I really like both Gordon and Junebug. I have to respectfully disagree, though, that he's proven he's got the talent his father did. I think he's got the potential, but he's been stifled by his overbearing stepmother who refuses to put money into her late husband's company. I'd have issues with her too if she'd shipped me off to military school. Now that he's joining up with Hendrick, I think we're going to see ALOT more out of him. They have the technology to give him a real shot at a Cup.

As for Smoke, all I can say is 'meh'. Master likes him, but his temper really irks me. My favorite driver of all time has got to be Clint Bowyer, though. How can I not cheer my cousin on? [8D]

Oh my god LOL . I don't like Gordon never have because he seemed to whine all the time. I'm happy to see I was not the only one who saw that.

No, you're not all that much of an oddball[;)].  I like them both too.  I have to agree with you that Jr. hasn't yet shown the talent his father had and personally I don't know that he ever will.  His dad was certainly stellar.  Jr definitely has potential to be a great driver though, esp. now that he's away from DEI.  I totally agree about Teresa - what a cunt[8D].  I definitely don't think Dale would approve of her behavior and lack of support for Jr.  It was so sad when DW interviewed Jr and he practically had tears in his eyes saying how he wished he had his dad to talk to and ask for advice.  He wouldn't need the advice if he didn't feel forced to have to leave DEI.  She should be ashamed of herself, IMO.  Now that he's with Hendrick, I think he's really going to take off.  I look forward to many wins in his future.

We'll see how much was excuses and how much was just due to not having the money/equipment he needed at DEI[;)].  And I'll be the first to admit that I support Jr because of his dad.  He's part of that legacy.  Probably kind of like people only support Kyle Petty because of Richard.  If you like the dad alot, it seems natural to support his son too.  But, I do like Jr better than most drivers anyway.  I think he's a good kid[:)].......luci

SONOMA, Calif. (AP) -- The cars of defending NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and series points leader Jeff Gordon failed inspection and were barred from all activity Friday at Infineon Raceway, including qualifying.

NASCAR said the No. 24 and No. 48 Chevrolets, both owned by Hendrick Motorsports, had modifications to the front fenders that were deemed illegal during morning inspection.

This is one old crone who would really love to rock Dale Jr's world.  He has the sweetest ass!

Almost got to met him a few years ago and a family emergency came up and I wasn't able to go.  I was so upset.
Now that he has gone to Hendrick's I'm waiting to see how much my Jr memorbila goes up in value.  I am so thankful he is out from underneth his step-mom.

Saw an interview with him some time ago.  They asked him about relationships - he said something along the lines that who ever he picked had to remember one thing - he was boss.  (A Dom here maybe?)

Yes, the commercials are cute, no doubt[:)].  But, I have to admit, I was hoping for another lap or two to see if Jeff Gordon could make it around Hamlin.  I think he would have.  At least Dale, Jr. finished fourth and he got to lead for quite awhile.  I was really pulling for him and I'm so confident he's going to do so wonderfully when he gets over to the Hendrick team........luci
