LotusSong -> Cosmetic Tattoo (6/19/2007 4:28:25 PM)

I just got in from my permanent eyeliner micro pigmentation application.

And I have survived to tell you that yes, it HURT LIKE HELL! At the first pass, it felt like a soft brush tickling.  I thought "hey, not bad"  But she has to do about 8  passes and each one gets more intense.  Yes she applied topical anesthetic though out the procedure.  But nothing kills the pain totally.

Right now, my eyes lids are puffy, my vision is blurry due to the antibiotic ointment that traced into my eyes,  the eyes feel like I have sand in them. m The sweet, young thing of a receptionist said they really looked nice and  asked "was that you that was screaming back there?  Gee, you didn't scream the first time you were back there".

I repled... "The first time was just a consultation... and that wasn't a scream, it was a holler".

I have to go back in 4-6 weeks for a follow up visit to do any corrections.  I'm told it won't be as bad.

If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't have done the lower lid due to the pain experience.

O M G

Thanks for the warning, I have always wanted to get eyeliner, but I think I shall rethink it now...  [;)]

Does it hurt worse than a regular tattoo??  I have heard that it does.  Still debating.

It's been 16 hours now and after a good nights sleep, my lids are red and puffy (but down a bit from yesterday)  The line is glaringly dark (as was to be expected for about a week).    Right now, everything is a bit distorted but after the swelling goes down, I can see the line is laying right at the base of the lashes as intended, but I still want to cry because I still worry.   The cosmetician/technician was duly certified and licensed.  She has been doing this for 9 years- so I just have to trust.  I've seen her work and it looked very natural.

I've never had a regular tattoo so I can't say what hurts more.  It starts out very light sand bearable.  Then with each pass on the opened the flesh, it escalates in intensity.  Are there any tattoo artists out the have any advice to lessen the pain other than the topical anesthetic they use or anything to accelerate the healing?

I totally ran out of endorphins.

Update:  19 hours after the procedure

The swelling is rapidly gong away now,  along with the redness.  My eyes have returned to their original shape and as expected, the line is falling into place.

I can say, for me, the only discomfort I felt was towards the end of the procedure.  The healing is comfortable.

I planned for my follow up visit in 6 weeks

I need to add, that the uncertainty of how it all turns out scared the shit out me, being the control freak I am.

I have to face the outcome of it all as a result of MY decision and I had to be damn certain of what I was doing  This is not something you can attempt and in the middle call a "safe-word" and have everything revert back to as it was.  This is the scariest part of all for me.  Putting my appearance in the hands of another.

I did not take pictures of this as I was too darn scared to see a face I may have messed up.  But it's going well, I just wish it was done.

I'll keep posting the experience of this here as things go on for those who are considering this as it would not pull up if it was just in my journal.

Will you have a before & after pic done? I mean after the swelling has gone. As someone who has stick straight eyelashes that appear invisible I've always been interested in this. I haven't any tattoos or piercings so I'm going by the tales told from those that have had stuff done.
I sure hope that you are totally happy with the end results. I think ya were brave!

LotusSong thank you so sharing. I thought about getting that done, since I started modeling again and applying eye-liner on me takes a LOT of effort since my eyes twitch so badly, I think I will hold off now or at least seriously reconsider, I'm not a masocist, and what you described sounds like more than I can take. {{hugs}}

LotusSong -> RE: Cosmetic Tattoo (6/20/2007 12:22:37 PM)

I plan on doing a new picture after all the swelling goes down.  My current one is me "before"... the next will be after.  Hopfully the eyes should be exactly the same look, just that I wake up looking like I have full makeup on my eyes.  You realllly don't wantto see it right now,. It would destroy the industry :)

Now as to the reason whay I did this in the first place.  The reason I have managed my MS so well as I have done, is that I look forward at situations I may be able to avoid.  When I was 16, my right hand went totaly numb and I had to learn to apply my makeup with my left hand.  Nice trick- but one to avoid if I can.  Also I'm in my mid-50's an my vision isn't what it used to be seeing close-up.  Nothing is worse than on old woman with makeup askew and not knowing it.

The technician said that the discomfort is in direct porportion to how badly one wants it done.  I think next time I  will request that she not start until the anethstetic is on for 30 minutes instead of 20.

cjenny:    I think ya were brave!

Right now I'm thinking "either brave... or  very stupid!"

I have a friend coming over who is as blunt as a breadstick.. I'll know what it looks like when she lays eyes on it all.

cjenny -> RE: Cosmetic Tattoo (6/20/2007 12:29:25 PM)

I just perved ya. Dang woman you have absolutely beautiful eyes! Now I have eyeball envy [:(] teehee. I'm curious.. I don't wear a lot of eye makeup. Did you have the lines done the whole length of your eyes? Ugh I'm not saying this well but I'm trying. Do the tatts go from corner to corner completely?
Hurry up n heal wouldya? I can't wait to see! Oh, and I am sticking with 'brave' and adding 'cool' too [;)]

LotusSong -> RE: Cosmetic Tattoo (6/20/2007 12:46:14 PM)

LOL  Thanks Jenny.  You coments are welcome. When my husband saw me last night (he was joking but) said "You mean you did that to your face on PURPOSE????!!!!"  Of course my response was "Babe... that's NOT what I need right now!"

They will do it whichever way you want.  I do my eyes from the start and end of my lash line on top and 3/4th of the length on the bottom.

LotusSong -> RE: Cosmetic Tattoo (6/21/2007 4:34:13 PM)

It's been 48 hours now.  I took a couple quick pics.  Available on request.  No touch up is done on the pics and I just came in from the AZ heat.
