Oh thank you for that post!  Those are my favorite cars and it will be interesting to see how it fared.  I think I need a little Beach Boys now...

I havent seen the link but in the UK their are many societies running and displaying US cars of the 50's in particular. The amount of chrome on display is dazzling and in almost immaculate condition.

I saw a  NEW 900 cubic inch, thats 1500cc Harley the other day. Costs 14000 UK pounds. lol.

Ut-oh.....................

"They opened it up this morning...right below my office, and the concrete container was filled with water up to the windows of the car. Stains on the wall show it had gotten much higher.  Hopefully the plactic bag around the car was air tight."

Rusty 1957 Plymouth unearthed in Okla.

By JUSTIN JUOZAPAVICIUS, Associated Press WriterSat Jun 16, 1:59 AM ET

A concrete vault encasing a 1957 Plymouth Belvedere buried a half-century ago may have been built to withstand a nuclear attack but it couldn't beat back the natural onslaught of moisture.

At a Friday ceremony complete with a couple of drum rolls, crews removed a multilayered protective wrapping caked with red mud, revealing a vintage vehicle that was covered in rust and wouldn't crank.

There were a few bright spots, literally: shiny chrome was still visible around the doors and front fender, and workers were able to put air in the tires.

I read about this in the newspaper this morning.  Apparently they are giving the car away to the person of family of the person that made the closest guess in 1957 about the population in 2007.  I wonder if the winner is going to restore the car or see how much he can get for it on ebay.  lol
