bird owning is so diff then any other pet. ABBA is one of the groups that is refreshingly non shock- non vulgar. wholesome.  if im square so be it.   they have a lovely singing voice. you can hear the words. they dont overrely on special effects.

anyhow- the parrot owns me- i can get him to say hello on a nice day.

for a breath of fresh air- i broke out the abba tape.

does anyone have that one good song the partrrich family did???

I love ABBA also.. but then I just about play Josh Groban exclusively :)

KatyLied -> RE: Parrot likes ABBA (6/15/2007 9:41:33 AM)

I think in its heyday, ABBA was Sweden's biggest export.

LadyEllen -> RE: Parrot likes ABBA (6/15/2007 9:43:33 AM)

Yep - Abba's revenues outstripped SAAB and Volvo

I note however, that Abba never provided me with an all expenses paid trip to Scandinavia to induce me to buy trucks. And that SAAB company are tight too.

LOL...I think you are referring to the Mississippi River and that runs from the top of the US to the bottom....running through 10 states.

Shania Twain----

Hit the top of the charts country and get a crossover hit in pop.

I am hep, let'd do it daddio.

Although I am some concerned about the masturbating parrot and pahunkster lyrics ---image wise, for her I mean.

I thought it was Tupelo Mississippi..

Personally speaking I like quite a lot of music which comes from around the Baltic Sea - such as ABBA, Ace of Base, Europe (the Final Countdown!), Razorlight, Roxette, Neneh Cherry (all from Sweden), Nina Hagen, Kraftwerk, Blue System, Scorpions (Germany), Mandaryna, Basia Trzetrzelewska (Poland), Brainstorm (Estonia), Aqua (Denmark)..

However good music is good music, no matter where it comes from.

IMO the parrot has got taste.

If the parrot is not masturbating while crooning can you be sure he really likes it or is he just into pantomime?

I had a Budgie who would hump your hand in the spring time.  He would 'feed' your thumb and in a flash would latch on and start humping.  No amount of shaking your hand could dislodge the fellow from you till he was finished...  Needless to say, he didn't get out of his cage much during early spring.
On another note...  He ruled the roost and wouldn't let one of our Cockatiels get near his precious Cheerio(our other, also male, Cockatiel).

Wrong again, it was an ABBA song, apologies for the poor translation Swedish into English.

We remember Elvis.

Born in Tupelo died on the John
Curled his lip and loved his mom
Couldn't act couldn't sing
Wore tight trousers with lots of bling
Held a geetar God knows why
The sharps and flats just passed him by
Ate lots of burgers his life he hated
Expired  alone and constipated.

when i first got him i was very concerned about doing everything right. well one day he bit me while i was feeding him. broke skin on my f-iong computer finger. i though ok u azzhole!  u get what i give u.  im not going to break my neck to get special toys treats ect.

for a while i had him up for sale- then i got over the bite- but he drawed the line. no touching. [a fun date huh??]  no flowers and candy if i dont even get to pet it.

If you can't touch him, how do you care for him? Clip his wings, trim his nails, file his beak, bathe him?

All birds will bite. If your bird is very aggressive it is because the people in his life have not taken the time to teach him not to be. It can still be done but requires patience and consistency. The rest of your life is a long time to live with an animal that you can't touch. If you have gotten to the point that you have given up and don't wish to put in the effort, then I would have to say that selling him or giving him to someone who will is not a bad idea....certainly one that would be in the best interest of the bird.

the parrots wings are clipped. he has a sharpener for his beak. he dipps in his water dish.  it is unlikely he would let ANYONE touch-hold-pet him.

these birds survive in the jungle...they are very aware of the surroundings.

i read some books on parrots. as compared to his prior home- he has it good. she hid him in a dark smoke filled room.  litters of puppies poooped and was stepped on.  anyhow- i got a decent price on him.

he doesnt pluck his feathers out. he stand on 1 foot. when he stands on one foot he is content.

he has the metal band- which probaly means he is legal to the country. as the exotic bird trade is lucrative.

i do let him out of his cage.

when i moved- i was very aware NOT to upset him. so i moved him in steps.

i preens and peacocks to show off his plumage to me.

he loved when i talk or sing to him....especially sound effects.

birds are very sensitive to fumes- noise-

if u seen him on cam you would conclude he is well.

The thing about exotic birds, pahunkboy, is that they are monogamous (sort of) for life.  People who keep them as pets hijack that instinct to make the bird a pet for life.

If the bird is biting you, it is waiting for the person or bird it imprinted on to come home.  If you put a lot of time into getting it to imprint on you, despite the bites it gives you, etc., it will eventually warm to you and bite everybody else.

The question really becomes how much do you want to invest in it to make it your own.
