I can't get my head around why a person would need PAPERS to do banking....

It's YOUR MONEY OBVIOUSLY, because YOU show up at the bank to deposit it in YOUR account.

For withdrawals, they have signature cards.

So, WTF does the fucking State of CT have to get involved with PAPERS for?

One reason...taxes.

If you make too much money on interest... The government wants their share.

.....so, this scheme allows the state to claim tax from illegal aliens. Thus offsetting other costs. Surely this is a pragmatic decision by local government to minimise the effect of federal policies regarding illegal immigration.

I think it's still unlikely that some banks will accept this form of ID to open an account (unless compelled to do so by law). Many banks now run a credit check to open a checking account, to see if you've defaulted/overdrawn on a previous account, so with no background information, the applicant would be excluded from opening the account anyway.

Everyone always has a simple answer to the problem...But for the most part...and you can pick apart the Media BS and find 2 stories where "americans have LINED up to get the jobs" Id like to see the numbers where the americans actually TOOK the jobs? Sorry, I have been working with people who have come to this country illegally for over 10 yrs, trying to help them gain PROPER legal papers in order to stay here... after paying thousands of dollars per document to the INS, even the most outstanding citizen often times gets denied..with not even a traffic ticket...hmm..wonder where that 1k goes for ONE FORM to the INS? for them to stamp a big fat denial on it? Then you get into deeper issues like the children who didn't ask to come here at age 4 or 5 and were brought here illegally, didn't stay in mexico long enough to get a voter ID card or any sort of identification.... and are here as young adults, cant speak spanish, have no recollection of their country at all, so it would be difficult to return, yet here they cannot open a bank acct, cannot get a drivers license or insurance, cant buy a home...fake papers can only get you so far...it cant get you much farther than a job..then you can only keep it until the w2's come out and you get the nice little letter from Social Security and have to change jobs because your company asks you to clear it up and of course you cant. No I am not an illegal alien, I was born and raised in Calif. now I live in the Southeast...so trust me when I say that I saw a problem and I got involved. Not to show people how to work the system, but to show people how to pay their dues and become legal..I only wish it was that easy, at least for the children who didn't ask for any of this. I say if you care enough to read about it and post about it then why not get involved and try to fix it? It really runs deeper than you know when you get involved and find out the real truths of it all...not what politics and media tell us.

oh & one more thing...where I live now..you cannot get married, get insurance, get any TYPE of gov't assistance including food stamps or welfare. open a checking acct or savings acct (yes all banks here do a credit check) Get a state issued id, or DL, and illegal aliens are targeted in the most popular areas almost every weekend because they have to carry cash on their person and they get robbed at gunpoint, even killed by people who have caught onto this and know they wont call the police on the theives for fear of getting deported. Id like to know where these illegals are on assistance, because I guess they have fixed that loophole in the states system here...then again welfare tops is 200 a month here..not alot someone can do with that no matter where they live. Stepping off of my soapbox now..lol
