Hard to believe, since every other division of Ford is disorganized as all hell. Ever had to deal with Customer Service at Ford and get four different answers from four different agents in four different divisions? It'll be a long time before I buy another Ford.

I shopped every truck on the market, and nothing came close to the F-150. This is the first time I ever purchased a vehicle and it's only my third one total ... but, I'm sort of buying the opinion of some, that the reason so many of the foreign and premium domestic vehicles rank so highly, is that they compare by type, without considering the selling price. When you compare a Toyota full-size pickup with a single level upgrade, to an F-150 with a single level upgrade, the Toyota rides better, runs more smoothly, has a nicer interior, etc ... It is also about ten grand more expensive. It's not apples to apples. If you spend as much money on the Ford, you end up with a much better vehicle. I have a friend with a Ford Fusion, loaded up pretty well. It's a seriously nice car and has a great ride, and she paid less than 23K.

Growing up a Chevy fan, we knew Fords as - Fix Or Repair Daily, Fucked On Race Day, or Found On Road Dead. So yeah, the report came as a surprise to me, too.

"In its newly released 2006 Annual Car Reliability Survey, Consumer Reports discovered that the Fusion and Milan actually scored higher in predicted reliability than the Honda Accord V6 and Toyota Camry V6. The Zephyr also did will in the upscale cars category, scoring slightly behind the Lexus ES350. Other domestic models did well too, including the Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS, both of which were above average in predicted reliability. Despite these pockets of success, the domestics still only managed to account for six of the 47 vehicles that achieved the highest predicted reliability scores and got a little red circle with a white dot next to their names. The Japanese, meanwhile, accounted for 39 (21 from Toyota/Lexus and 11 from Honda/Acura). The Fusion/Milan/Zephyr, Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Pontiac Vibe were the six American vehicles that scored highest. The remaining two vehicles were a split between Europe and Korea with one going to the MINI Cooper and the other to the Hyundai Azera. Ford has been making fantastic quality vehicles for over a decade now. The problem for American auto companies is that there is still an image problem of prior problems, and also the legacy cost of health care adds $3k to the sticker price of every American auto. As to Japanese trucks...I have never, ever, ever seen anyone who does *actual, real, hardcore work* driving a Japanese truck. Japanese trucks aren't for real men. They're for sissy boys who like to play in their "twuck" as they commute to their jobs as cubicle jockeys. [;)]

LOL at Self! I agree with Caitlyn, I've owned 3 F-150's and they were the best vehicles I've ever owned! Never had any problems with them! And they were tough too, you can really beat on them and it doesn't even bother them! Great engines, I had two with the 4.6 liter 220 hp and one with the 5.4 liter 260 hp which is a pig on gas though. You always see Fords at construction sites. Never Nissans or Toyotas. Last year I bought a new Mercury Grande Marquis "LS" with all the options for $22,400 and it runs great. You get that real luxury car ride and it gets 27 mpg on the highway, 20 around town and I'm heavy on the gas pedal. Very comfortable leather seats and 224 horse power. And you can get 4 bodies in the trunk easy! The Ford vehicles of the 60's and 70's were crap except for the trucks. These days Fords are a great dependable vehicle with some engines that don't even need a tune up for 100,000 miles. And I got 65,000 miles out of the tires on one of the trucks I owned. (Goodyear Eagles) Of course Lexus can build a "great car",...but it's going to cost you $84k! Rambler could come back in business and build you a great car for $84k!

My dad had a Ford Truck that turned him into a Dodge guy (as in "never again will I buy a Ford product"). I had a little Mercury that I loved, not a moment's trouble out of it, drove it until it died. God I loved that car, it's the only brand new car I ever owned.

I think it was an F150, may have been F250, not sure, it was years ago. You know how people get weird when they have cars/trucks that need lots of work done on them.

born and raised on Fords, first car was a '66 Ford Galaxie 500, then I inherited the '65 Ford Station Wagon (great for hauling everone & their stuff everywhere), then '77 Mercury Bobcat, '78 Mercury Bobcat (first brand new car), '69 Ford Fairlane 500, '74 Dodge Dart (ooops, how'd that happen), '77 Ford Granada, '87 Ford Taurus wagon, '88 Mercury Grand Marquis, '94 Mercury Grand Marquis, '86 Ford Crown Victoria LTD

During the 70's and early 80's I bought Fiats exclusively. Never had a single problem and they were great cars, from my experience. No surprise really, most if not all of the Ford products in the high end of the survey are built on Mazda platforms. For example, the Mustang, Fusion, Milan, and Edge are all built on the Mazda 6 platform. Then again most of the cars Toyota sells in North America are also built here and not in Japan. While that's good for creating jobs here it likely doesn't help their quality standards.

Somehow I just don't picture a hundred pound girl driving around in a pumped up F-150 - Is it a Ranch truck?!? It reminds me of Ashley Judd in ''Come Early Morning''. ; } I have a newer half-ton Silverado right now and it's been like gold. But I've also had a Toyota, and it's tough as hell to beat their reliability. The Chevy is definitely a lot more comfortable...and hell, I try to purchase American whenever possible. - R

Ford cars in the UK have a good reputation but lack the snob appeal. Two litre Turbo diesel sold here as a Mondeo is considered by "sensible" car journalists to be a reliable value for money vehicle. Flamboyant Jeremy Clarkson types, a reference for the Brits, can kiss my arse !
