It doesn't really even matter if Jefferson is GUILTY, as the DOJ is KNOWN TO BE ONLY A BUNCH OF POLITICAL HACKS.

Too bad there aren't any RESPECTABLE PEOPLE left at the DOJ to lend some credibility to this indictment.

Fargle, is this the Congressman who was caught *Red-Handed* with $90,000 in cash in *Marked Bills* in his kitchen freezer?
"He's a VIC.....TIM!"
Yeah, I know, everyone does it!
I only have $1,000 in my freezer!

The guy had $90,000 of marked billed wrapped in tin foil in his freezer! That's like holding a smoking gun over a dead body.

luckydog1 -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/4/2007 4:12:25 PM)

Why does it not matter if he is guilty Farg?

farglebargle -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/4/2007 4:48:10 PM)

Because the indictment is tainted by the KNOWN BIAS of all the remaining US Attorneys.

The ***ONLY*** reason they have their jobs, is that they are Loyal Bushies. That said, their LOYALTY HAS BEEN PROVEN to be with their Party, rather than to the Constitution and their Lawful Duties.

I'm not saying he's pretty-damn-guilty, based on the publicly available documentation, it *appears* he is, but the motives, loyalty, and integrity of the US Attorney bring the case are beyond questionable, to downright untrustworthy.

THIS is the damage done by the appointment of Monica Goodling as Political Officer to the DOJ, and the subsequent purge of Politically Unreliables.

popeye1250 -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/4/2007 4:52:15 PM)

They said on the News tonight that the FBI even has video of this schmuck taking the money.

Sinergy -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/4/2007 4:55:56 PM)

I hope he enjoys his stay in jail.

The problem I have with him being indicted is I am curious about all the Republicans who need charges filed against them.

Why $HIM for $THIS and not %THEM for %THAT?

OH, %THEM is "Loyal Bushies", too!

That is why %THEM isn't indicted for %THAT!

SimplyMichael -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/4/2007 9:12:23 PM)

This is the same DOJ who never files against newspaper mergers but found ONE to do.  Of course it was an aggressive paper that does serious investigative journalism which bought out a right wing noise machine... THAT had to be investigated, but two HUGE fucked up mergers in California, three if you coun't the LA times and not a peep.

The guy is a fucking scumbag, but $90k?  You can tell he is a Dem, Republicans know how to steal a LOT more.  $5,000,000,000 missing in Iraq, not even a peep....

Well the GOP knows how to hide it better. They dont try to hide it in the freezer wrapped in tin foil.

farg, there is a small problem here.

To make any kind of real point, you would have to point out something that someone is getting away something with because of party affiliations.

Why haven't Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld, Powell, et. al. been indicted for violating 18 USC 371? The evidence is VERY CLEAR.

*IF* there was a US Attorney who *WAS NOT* a Loyal Bushie to present it to a Grand Jury, it's a slam-dunk.

But all the REMAINING US Attorneys have proven themselves more obedient to their Party, than their Oath.

popeye1250 -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/5/2007 1:02:43 AM)

Fargle, I'd be MORE than happy to see Sen. Lindsey Graham indicted if that makes you feel better.

there is a good chance he is nothing more than a fall guy so the big fish can continue swimming.    It seems very strange that someone with the resources of a senator would stash money in his feezer.

i would like to see the big fish get caust, those involved with halliburton etc...  but this sill certainly keep the attention off of any of them as well as aid the 2008 elctions for the republicrats.

Then again maybe that is a result what our new patriot act spying produced eh?   LOL.

unfortunately by the time the favor can be returned to the creators it will be to late to use it LOL

Archer -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/5/2007 10:19:38 AM)

Fargle the problem is the indictment is by a Grand Jury that is not politicly bent. Unless you contend that they selected an entire Grand Jury pool of "loyalists".
You can spout all day about what gets brought to a Grand Jury or what doesn't get brought, but the Grand Jury itself is apolitical still to the best of my knowledge.

farglebargle -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/5/2007 10:33:32 AM)

"Fargle the problem is the indictment is by a Grand Jury that is not politicly bent. Unless you contend that they selected an entire Grand Jury pool of "loyalists"."

Well, WHY NOT? If you're going to only have US Attorneys who are Politically Reliable, and care about their Party more than their Duty, wouldn't they stack the Grand Jury?

Isn't that why avoiding the APPEARANCE of impropriety is so important?

Crush -> RE: Obedient, Loyal Bushies Indict Democrat Congressmen... (6/5/2007 11:14:57 AM)

As always, there is a simpler solution:   Term limits:   One in Congress, then one in prison....

Costs too much to incarcerate.

Give them a nice noose to hang themself from, reduce (the cost of prison), reuse (the rope), recycle (the former politician).

Farglebargle:
If he is guilty then he is guilty I have no problem with crooks going to jail.  That being said one of the adjoining articles from the link you posted stated his office in the congress was searched.  This is the first time in the history of our country that this has ever happened.  That for me raises a red flag. There us no substitute for good police work.  If the police go outside of the rules to obtain evidence then it speaks loudly to credibility, purpose and intent.  Which has been rejected by the courts over and over.  My opinion is that all politicians are low life scum until proven other wise.
Still I think we should give him a fair trial before we hang him.

i'm not sure that applies to those in governmetn office.  Does anyone know for sure?  It seems to me the feds are not considered citizens in the same light we are considereed citizens and therefore while in office may not share the same constitutional rights either as an employee of the people.  anyone know for ure what the rules are in this?
