When I was a child, I would tell my mom, "I want to go home"; Even though I was at home. Years later after my ex wife's sucicide attempts I told my shrink that that thought was entering my mind again but yet I had no desire to go back to South Carolina.

The Shrink told me that home was a concept of safety and security. That I was doing my best to latch on to that.

Now, three years after both my divorce and the sale of my childhood home. I have that thought entering my mind again, of "I want to go home". I don't have a home anymore with my ex wife. I don't have my childhood home. I have an apartment that I have done my best to make as much of a home as I can. But yet that nagging "I want to go home" is there again.

My shrink's safety and security answer dosen't really seem to answer this question, since I have money in the bank, I have a retirement fund, I have a solid job (Even though I hate manegment), What or where is home?

The home you seek is that peace & security within.... that place will only be found when you embrace yourself & everything you are... unconditionally

To me, safety and security isn't wrapped up in financial haves and havenots - it is the place you can be yourself - if you cannot feel free to be who you are without stigma or pressure then you are just not home.

Home is the place you can remain still and at peace.

it took me a long time to know what "home" was. I found for me that home is a physical place where i can see open skies, mountains, clean air, and lots of birds, insects, and wildlife. I like the sunshine, cloudy days are depressing. I also think it's true that "home is where the heart is" no matter where the heart lives, inside yourself is where you have to make your home. kinda like a folk song...eh.

To me home is where the people I love are.

OMG OMG what a thread to wake up to!!

home is sunrise and a sunset. home is where you rest when you are weary. home is familliar faces and intersections. a feeling that "hey i belong here". home is that call at 2 am with news of glee or not news of glee.

home is letting the room be unkempt- painting swirls on the walls.

home is a state of mind. if u could dance like the pros do- when you dream do you jump to the clouds and examine your space?

home is your family history- it is the present the past and future all rolled into one.

home is trust.  a refuch from the bitterness os the world.

is a shantee any less a home then a mansion on the hill?

thats for you to ponder.

home is where u dare to dream.

while it can be spacial- it has its own essense.

home is where you 1st built a treehouse.  you may not be physically able to go there- but you can dance the night away there in your slumber.

For what it is worth my friend...I still have it partially right, as we cant know all- till our final breath.

I too suffer and enjoy this same plight.

Home is everything.  and yet- hard to touch it. hard to define it.

Home sweet home- may you be there if only for this moment,,,,,,
