popeye1250 -> The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 5:37:11 PM)

I'm watching the Democratic debate on CNN which is taking place in New Hampshire.
So far none of the candidates is impressive.
None of them will enforce our immigration laws, they all want some type of "universal" healthcare plan (which is a good thing in my opinion) none of them have mentioned gettng us out of NAFTA except Dennis Kuchinich.
They do want to give more money to Veterans Hospitals and Veterans which is good.
They're all "against" high gas prices (Duh!)
"What would you do to stop Iran from developing a nuclear bomb; all- "Diplomacy." = more foreign aid.
"Darfur"- a non-issue for the U.S. (Global Policeman again?)
Edwards = did a pretty good job.
Biden = sos
Kuchinich = some interesting ideas.
Richardson = "zzzzzzz"
Obama = "zzzzzzzz" I thought he was supposed to be a "Rock Star?"
Hillary = Predictable. But she did a good job.
I think it's probably going to be Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee like it or not. She has the money.
But I think Edwards is going to give her a run for her money!
What do you think?

Al Gore has no reason to join early.

He is going to be the October surprise and leave Billary gasping for air in his dust.

Sinergy

p.s.  He has more popularity among the Democrats than she does, and he can get more donations and money than she can.  There are no positive outcomes for going up against Bill Clinton early on;  Bill Clinton is a political scrapper.

MsPoetress -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 6:02:19 PM)

He is also Hollywood. He has that going for him and Hollywood would back him.

Personally, I can't stand him. I think he is a hypocrite, and a media whore. Then again when you start thinking about it, they all seem to be that way.

selfbnd411 -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 6:03:09 PM)

You left out Sen. Gravelle [:D]

Not saying I like him.

Simply pointing out who I think will get the Democratic nomination.

Oh definitely. This morning I saw a poll with Hillary in the lead, but they put Al Gore in there just in case he decides to join, and he beat out John "Nice Hair" Edwards. I honestly don't see him, ever pulling out into the lead or even a close second.

lol, when Wolf Blitzer said his name, I went "who??"......

caitlyn -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 6:45:19 PM)

This is not an indication of support by any means ... but among the top group of candidates, John Edwards at least tried to show a clear difference between himself and the other candidates. People will agree, or not agree, but at lease he will know for sure. Obama seems like a great guy ... probably the best one to have a polite and civil conversation with. Joe Biden is too honest and too blunt, to ever win. Hillary killed everyone in this debate by making the attempt to unite the party ... once again showing that like her or hate her, she is the primo politician in this group.

I would like to see the field narrow a little, so we can have a bit more time on each question. Mike Gravelle can go back to Alaska, and attack everyone from a distance. Chris Dodd can not answer questions in the Senate, instead of not answering them in the debates. Dennis Kichinich can go back to living in dream world, and Bill Richardson can start posting in the, "I'm a Genius" thread. [;)]

selfbnd411 -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 6:52:56 PM)

Edwards is great, and I've given his campaign $15 so far.  That's a lot for a graduate student [:)]

Remember folks--Bill Clinton was considered to be out of the running until he saved his campaign by going on 60 Minutes 10 months before the election.  We're still 17 months from the election!

Hillary would crush Gore in a Democrat primary. Plus they would bloody him up with a huge anti Gore crusade.

I definitely am not Hillary supporter, but if Gore runs....It will be a fight between the both of them to win the Democratic ticket.

I am very interested in what Tuesdays debate will hold. Probably alot of the same Bush bashing, but I want to see Giuliani and the rest, debate.

Level -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 7:11:05 PM)

I wonder what Bill would do if Gore does run? He probably likes Al more than her, but he likes the idea of being back in the White House even more.

Level -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 7:20:49 PM)

"At the conclusion of the two-hour debate, the candidates were asked what their top priority would be for their first 100 days in office:
    Edwards: “travel the world” and “re-establish America’s moral authority.”
    Clinton: bring home U.S. troops from Iraq.
    Obama: bring home U.S. troops and push for national health care.
    New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson: upgrade U.S. schools and push a $40,000-a-year minimum wage for teachers.
    Delaware Sen. Joe Biden: end the war in Iraq and defuse tensions with Iran and North Korea.
    Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich: help “reshape the world for peace” and end all nuclear weapons.
    Former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel: Remind Congressional leaders they can end the war in Iraq now.
    Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd: “Restore constitutional rights in this country.”

I would love to see your lucid and reasoned and studied analysis of this opinion.

I suspect you dont actually have one.

Sinergy

p.s.  I dont think Gore will announce until the last minute is simply because Billary will attempt to bloody him.  He wants her to spend her money slapping down everybody else, then swoop in when she is broken and bleeding at the last minute.

Thank you for the wonderful visual, I will sleep good tonight.

BlindUnknown -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/3/2007 11:12:47 PM)

who was on the far left of stage in Q+A? i never noticed his name, i saw everyone elses (suspects media conspiracy).

He was giving some nice doses of reality "special interests are too far entrenched, you cant fix that as president, youre all a part of it"

Ah, that felt good.

Props to Biden for putting the UN in its place when it came to Darfur.

Edwards showed great strategy but at the cost of gaining ground with his touchy-feely base, i think.  i'm not touchy feely so i cant be sure.

Hillary has done enough this week, she didnt need to shout "socialism" tonight.  She's done that enough this campaign.

It's kinda frustrating seeing Kucinich up evry five seconds >.>

Yeah, what was Biden's little outburst on Darfur about?
The American People want our Troops HOME not off to get involved in another country's problems!
And the Democrats won the last election on promising to do that and now they want us in Darfur?
They can be thrown out on their asses real quick too just like the Republicans!
All candidates tell us that they're not going to make us the "world's policeman" then they do exactly that!
That shit needs to stop!
This "globalism" thing just isn't working out too good.

minnetar -> RE: The Democratic Debate (6/5/2007 8:47:01 PM)

Popeye,
Why would any of the Democrats impress you as you are such a strong Republican?  None of the Republicans would impress me as we have totally different values.

In my view, you are misrepresenting what Joe Biden really said. He called for a no-fly zone in support of United Nation's peace keepers. This could be accomplished by one aircraft carrier at very little risk.

I'm with you ... I don't want to be the world's policeman ... but, I don't think we should stand by and watch this happen, when we could easily stop it.

You know, I'm not a police officer and don't want to be one, but if I saw some thug holding you up, I would happily shoot them for you. [;)]

Minnetar, I'm not a Republican. I voted against Bush in both elections!
I'm an Independant voter, "Un Enrolled" or "Un-Declared."

Caitlyn, and what about the E.U. Aircraft Carriers?
If I'm not misstaken the continent of Africa is about 300 miles south of Italy.
