Lordandmaster -> Good for A-Rod! (5/31/2007 10:55:40 AM)

I'm not talking about his escapades with a blonde bombshell in Toronto.  I'm talking about the stunt he pulled off last night against the Blue Jays, yelling "Hah!" (or something...) as he rounded third base last night, distracting the Jays' third baseman so that the ball landed safely and two runs scored.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=270530114

The Jays' manager called the play "bush-league," and the Jays team refused to come out and shake the Yankees' hands after the game.  Excuse me?  The only thing that was "bush-league" was dropping a routine inning-ending popup.  These self-important and overpaid athletes seem to have forgotten that the game is played for the fans, and the fans want to see a guy do anything he can to help his team win.  If some moron is stupid enough to let a ball drop just because the opposing player yells something as he runs past, it's his own fault.

He's probably going to get a fastball in his ear one day for it, but I haven't seen a more entertaining play in a long time.  Maybe these assholes forget that if people like me start to cancel their satellite subscriptions because the game has gotten too fucking boring, their salaries will all come back down to earth...

[:)] I had to read this because I had no clue what an A-Rod was. Is. Who.

..i had no idea about Boston's predilictions......perhaps they need to drink more tea [;)]

stef -> RE: Good for A-Rod! (5/31/2007 12:48:10 PM)

It has more to do with A-Rod's predilictions than those of the Bostonians.

The photo of him outside a strip club w/ a blonde wearing True Religion jeans sent the stock price of TRLG up more than 20% in two days...Kid you not!

Same bit of confusion here, cjenny.
I thought an A-Rod had something to do with NASCAR?    [sm=meh.gif]

Lordandmaster -> RE: Good for A-Rod! (5/31/2007 1:15:56 PM)

I see that no one wants to talk about the original subject of this thread, which was the PLAY, not the PLAYA.

Vendaval -> RE: Good for A-Rod! (5/31/2007 1:19:57 PM)

Sorry for that LAM!
Our collective "bad" for being so distracted by his name.

eroticangel -> RE: Good for A-Rod! (5/31/2007 1:42:41 PM)

i think it's awesome that such a play worked...my hat is off to A-Rod......oh, and for the record, i don't care about the blond.......

Lordandmaster -> RE: Good for A-Rod! (5/31/2007 2:05:01 PM)

He's a baseball player.  Alex Rodriguez.  I don't adore him or anything, but I'm already tired of the mawkish criticism he's been getting on the sports talk shows, where fat old athletes pontificate about how the game is "supposed to be played."  My ass.  You're supposed to do anything you can to help your team win.  That's how the game is supposed to be played.  (Most of those goofs probably don't know what "mawkish" means, either.)

I agree, it's not bush league, it's doing what you need to do to win. Rodriguez is one of the greatest baseball players of all time (yes, all time), and I dearly hope he destroys whatever home run mark Steroid King Barry leaves the game with.

C'mon brother....  I know why you're really A-Rod fan :  He's a Bronx native son and grew up in the neighborhood, right?

Gotta admit that his lil' hr tear a few weeks back brought Bonds' HR into question for second....but he's slacked way off and won't come close.
