As far as lack of facial expressions or what have you, a good onine writer will explain emotions and the expressions caused. It all depends on the abilities and sensitivities of those chatting.

But will it be truth just because it is explained well? I can write a story using my imagination about things that ahve never happened in real life and make is seem very realistic, but it doesn't make it the truth. Someone with a good imagination and excellent writing skills could just as easily craft a tale as they chat with someone and make it more beleiveable than they could in person. The thing with non-verbal cues is that we do not always control those. The tells that a person is lying are not always even known to them, but can be observed by others in their presence. No so online

Greetings hereyesuponyou,

Great thread[:)]
i agree with premise that is easy to lie and easy to be honest online. But when it comes to a physical relationship with someone you have met online, the truths or lies established thru online communication will be revealed. It is ineveitable~

True. If the person doesn't want to meet, what's all the excitement about anyway?

One might wonder if the internet was so terribly frustrating, why someone would be using it unnecessarily.

Efficiency.
I could go out to clubs, and travel across the world trying to meet interesting people with whom I might have common interests, or I can sit at the computer and do a quick search and narrow the field of possibilities immensely.  Human interaction is necessary to one's health.  I choose to find it in an efficient manner, even when that involves wading through drek to get to the few treasures to be found.
Admittedly it means I am exposed to a larger number of incomprehensible comments, but that's what "ignore" is for.
