Remembering Military present and past - 5/26/2007 8:57:28 AM

Status: offline 		Dear Ladies and Gentlemen;

I want to publicly thank our Military Veterans and Active Military for serving in uniforms of the various branches of the US Military.

It is a weekend that has sadly gone commercial and buying bargain weekend shopping and or a 'get away.'  However, without the people who served in uniform, we would not be able to do so. 

I also want to thank the families of Veterans and Active Military members.  Although the Nation supports Veterans and Active Military; there is no better support than what is at home.  It takes a toll on families for certain.  Amazingly, they march on right behind their family members. 

Let us never forget our Troops or our Veterans.

Status: offline 		I am thankful- I wish I could bring the troops home. I am sorry that us voters are yet not able to fix this rediculous escapade in a certain country.

PS: i am downright ashamed of Walter Reed which we knew about for years.

Status: offline 		As a disabled vet  I feel both bitter and proud of being part of this legacy. I have seen my country and my Army torn apart by shortsided,  self serving, greedy interest.What we give to our country is mere pittance in comparrison to what our forefathers and comrades in arms, who have given the ultimate sacrifice.Even  now I will glady give my life so that my family will never have to live in the fear that most today in the Middle East live. I am proud to serve in  a limited way. Job well done to my fellow comrades. May air fill your silk and allow you safe journey to the ground!!! DE OPRESSO LIBER RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

I hear you looud and clear.

America is a country of dreamers. Those who dared to dream of a better life. Somehow along the way, big money took over.

The best and the worst of my times was growing up in Chicago. If someone said-"it cant be done"- the reply would be "watch me", 

from freedom of thought- came all kinds of neat inventions.  the sky scraper. teh wright brothers, thomas Edison.

my good friend Marge. she is up there in age. she was on the last train out before Hitler took over. she told me stories years ago. if i posted what she told me- the board would go nuts.  today she wont talk any further about what she told me. but i DO remember. anyhow- she and her mom had their entire earthly belongings in a trunk - when approaching the train, they were told the trunk could not go. so they abandoned it.

my kin fought in the western theator.

the ww2 vets are what made us great.  but this does not diminsh the service any any in uniforn serving.


as flawed as US policy is; i am proud and thankful to be an American.  Keep the hope alive!  Dare to dream!  Hugs to all the men and woman who served!

I knew a couple from Nam.  And I was privileged to
know some WWII vets, including one who I learned
after knowing him for a decade, was part of the great
escape.

I was speaking with a friend from these boards and we
both agreed that you Lady Hugs, are one of the people
on these boards who we both respected a great deal.

This post is one more example of why.  I thank you
for it.  I also thank the veterans who made boards of this
type possible.  It makes the misuse and waste of such people
a much greater crime, but not a crime they should pay for.

Status: offline 		As a vet I have a suggestion for everyone who wants to honor those who served. Sometime soon go to a cemetary and take some time looking around. You will likely find a veteran's grave that hasn't been tended recently. Brush the grass clippings off it etc.
