Some people have very good reasons for not informing even the kink community about their professions. Not just politicians have to be careful. Think what would happen to a pastor/priest or seminary professor who admitted to being kinky. They would have no voice whatsoever within their religious community any longer where they might be able to amelliorate some of the negatives being spouted by others.

You never know what kind of professional you are sitting next to at any event.

Sorry Lizzie I think we were writing our posts at the same time. Im not a parrot honestly Im not, honestly Im not, honestly Im not!!

Daddy is a respected psychiatrist 4 days week and it is important that Dr *insert His real name here* keeps the BDSM part of His life out of the public eye and far away from the office as possible. He makes a living assisting others overcome their bad experiences with the scene and/or other problems on a daily basis ...so privacy and discretion is must for Him.  when i call His office to leave a message, i cannot tell the secretary that His daughter called ...or when i send mail to Him, it has to be addressed "private" on the envelope - because our BDSM relationship is for the bedroom only. so He has a valid reason for not sharing this side of Him with friends and colleagues.

on the other side, i don't have to hide who i am from my co-workers and bosses at the radio station. in fact we had Mistress Xena and recently Ron Jeremy (and other guests) in the studio talking about BDSM and the porn industry. everyone knows what my collars signify and i don't have to hide them while in the office either.  i have openly discussed certain aspects of what i've done like trampling to cbt live on air ...even did a mini review of a fetish party for the station.  plus i'm not the only one who's in a D/s relationship at the station either.

My ex is about to get her PHd and she is kinky as hell.  San Francisco is full of perverted doctors and there isn't a nurse out there who isn't a top or a bottom.  Dr Charles Moser is well a doctor and a well known author of BDSM books.

Race Bannon started the kink aware professionals list but NCSF runs it now.  It lists all sorts of "professionals"  http://www.ncsfreedom.org/kap/mainlist.htm

It was really interesting; do you know the same sort of community for Europe or Australia?

I have commented on this many times before.
Many professional adults are NOT going to have their picture plastered on any internet site,
especially a BDSM one.
I have noticed a lot of university professors around here, that too me is a bit different.
Many high profile people would have a lot to lose by having their picture on here.
There are a few that don't mind having their picture up, but many professionals do not for
a variety of reasons.
Why open up a can of worms that you need not open?

i have known many people of such..."caliber"..if you want to put it that way. its just  a matter of discretion because certain career fields wouldnt exactly look highly upon this.

I agree, there are many around here.  Most just keep a low profile.
