WestByGodVirginia, here we come!

Our summer vacation destination here at Casa De Neurosis will be deep in the heart of the WV Apps. this year! I just reserved a great walk-in campsite at Seneca Shadows. We'll be there for the Bluegrass Festival, whee!

I think that from now on.. all our family vacations will be camping ones. Camping is half the cost of hotels rooms, and the kids love it. =)

What are everybody's favorite vacation spots? Any National Parks? I've been to... Yellowstone, Badlands, Acadia, Everglades, Grand Tetons, and Biscayne so far. Eventually we'll hit the Grand Canyon. Not in the summer, tho'.. forget that.

Stay away from the Everglades except in the winter. The Mosquitos are just too bad the rest of the time. The Great Smoky Mountains Park is nice if you go when its off peak and not so crowded.

I just went back to work Last Sunday after a 24 day vacation. My girlfriend and I took a Road Trip across the country. I drove she navigated(with a real map LOL) I had the Best vacation I have ever had and I recommend everyonetake one at least once in their life.  Take your time and stop where you want to stop see the country, the Mountian ranges, fields in Ok. for as far as you can see are so beautiful. The Arch in St. Louis- Churchill Downs in Ky. on and so much more! We did NY,PA,OH,IN,IL,MO,KY,OK,TX,NM and then into Mexico. Our final stop on the way home was Niagara falls. We even  just missed a Tornado- We had reservations in Amarillo TX, but we spent so much time one day stopping to see things, it was now dark and we were tired so we decided to stop for the night at the next exit that was Shamrock TX. After we got our room and unloaded we turn the TV on to see Big News Tornado going through Amarillo.I'm ready to hit the road again.

SwtnSparkling.....that sounds great!!!   I've been dying for a cross country road trip for years....from  Atlantic to Pacific...good for you!!

I love camping vacations as well...they rock  ( even more  so if they have  a toilet and shower facility)
I've done "primitive" but i prefer an amenity or two.

I love vacationing in warm coastal destinations best...

That sounds so awesome. =) One of these days, The Mister and I are going to take a cross country road trip, when the ums have grown and left, lol.

If you're ever going to do that again, I highly recommend Bar Harbor, Maine/ Acadia National Park. You get the best of both worlds there... beautiful wooded mountains and the ocean. There are miles and miles of rocky coastline. The only bummer is that the water is cold all year round so swimming might be out of the question. I've been to Bar Harbor twice and hopefully will be going again next year. =)

Yah, primitive camping is great fun but not very practical for a family-style vacation. They have a zillion backcountry spots in WV, but my ums aren't exactly rough 'n rugged like that, lol

I have a theory about vacations, see. =) You have the Um- focused, then you have the adult-focused, and it's far easier to never mix the two together. <g>  My friend keeps bugging me to go to Key West, dragging the kids behind us and I'm like HELL no! LOL!

Yay...we bought a camper last fall and plan on doing lots of camping this summer.  We're able to go 2-3 days midweek almost every week once summer hits.
I used to go camping all the time when I was young and now I'm going with my own wee ones.  Can't wait.
I still like my Outer Banks oceanfront vacation too.  8)

Hey West Va. is a great state to camp and vacation in. I have relatives in Beckley West Va. and it is a pretty 400 mile bike ride from here. Route 64 in West Va. rocks, so does Route 77. I just got back yesterday from Assategue Island in Maryland. It was windy and damp. I was cycle camping and was glad to get back home. I had a good time though, very nice place. I am going to Niagra Falls in June cycle camping. I will try to put my photo gallery link on here of my trip to Assateague Island. I am still uploading photos.http://www.flickr.com/photos/11364868@N00/

My favorite campsite is at Notellum Creek somewhere in the Sawtooth Mountains in the middle of Idaho. John Kerry has a vacation mansion near there, but my preferred campsite at Notellum is a lot better than any ultra-rich persons' mansion - at least, that's my opinion.

My favorite national park has to be the Olympic National Park, because of the rain forests and its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, and I'm going there this year for about a week. I might stomp around a few active volcanoes on the way there, too. And I'll definitely watch the 4th of July fireworks in Seattle, over Puget Sound, either from the Space Needle or from the docks.
