Griswold -> Am I really THAT fucking old????? (5/16/2007 6:30:45 PM)

That news reports have to spell out details this specifically?  (She's talking about why she held off being on news shows and such):

"Actually I went back to them this year and I said 'Okay, now this is ridiculous, I should be able to come back,"' Shriver told an audience of workers at Internet firm Google. "You know I've never had a conflict before and I've always been in a quote political family".

Shriver's mother is slain U.S. President John F. Kennedy's sister and her father, Sargent Shriver, was the Democratic candidate for U.S. vice president in 1972. "

Now...I kind of figured everyone knew who John F. was....and by virtue...who Schwarzennegars wife is....

(Or is this so far back...that people under 30 think this Kennedy guy is like I think of Roosevelt?)

Anyone that died before I was old enough to remember is like FDR to me. I know about the Kennedy family, of course, but Camelot was dead before I was a toddler, and I am going to be 40 soon enough

domiguy -> RE: Am I really THAT fucking old????? (5/16/2007 6:56:04 PM)

Yes you are that old!!!....If I were you I would seriously start considering about picking up a bible..Like so many people of your "age" they reach a point where they  figure it's about time that they start cramming for their final exam.

"Camelot"?

Who doesn't shudder when they hear you say that, and realize that the press back then was so thoroughly biased that it could routinely got away with things like calling a Democrat Presidency "Camelot"

Could you imagine that happening today? NOT!!! LOL

They tried it with Hillbilly Bill Clinton, and it blew up in their faces, and I'm glad.

GO MATT DRUDGE, you the man!!!!

You realize the press was enamored of this young hot sexy couple of child bearing years that actually had little kids and it was not about their politics at all as to why it was called "Camelot"

Also, Kennedy was not completely liberal. He was not a dove for example. In fact a staunch republican history professor I had was very much an admirer of his, but this was an era before rampant partisan hackery

I have a bridge to sell you if you really think that wasn't a biased media

Point out where I said he was a Liberal?

He wasn't a Liberal at all, not by todays' standards.

Not at all. In fact, he'd likely be a Republican today.

But that doesn't mean that the three networks weren't biased, which they were - and they were the about the only source for news that people had.

Fun to watch the True Believers In The Essential Evil Of Democrats to flee the ship when asked to provide sources to back up their opinions.

If I don't answer you immediately it means what again, exactly???

Pfft.

The only "source" I need is julia saying that the networks called a Democrat administration ":Camelot" back in the day

What more does a thinking person need than that

JFK was no freaking knight in shining armor. He was a good president in many ways, but if he were serving today he'd get ripped to shreds, just like everybody else

p.s. For those playing the home game, it is comments like this that almost demand smart-ass comments like "Do you know any thinking people?"

Actually, Camelot referred to the political family of the Kennedys, not to any "Democrat" administration.

So apparently it is time for you to update your sources as the ones you are using are simply proving your ignorance of the topic being discussed.
