A new Gallup poll not only shows Congress with very low approval ratings....but actually lower than President Bush.
The poll found that less than 1/3rd of Americans approve of Congress (29%) and nearly 2/3rds (64%) disapprove.
President Bush's approval rating is 33%. And disapproval is 62%.

In 2006, it was a bad thing to have an "R" after your name. But as it stands right now...in 2008, it may be a bad thing to be an incumbant no matter what party you belong to. The voters are apparently tired of both parties.

The only part of government with a decent approval is the Supreme Court which is getting a 51% approval rating even after upholding a ban on partial-birth abortions.

Presidential Job Approval
Republicans continue to be much more likely than independents or Democrats to support the president. Seventy-three percent of Republicans approve of Bush, substantially higher than the 27% approval among independents and the 9% approval among Democrats. Although the three party groups' ratings of Bush's job approval have been quite stable in recent months, since last May presidential approval ratings have shown somewhat more fluctuation among Republicans (ranging between 68% and 86%) than among independents (23% to 36%) or Democrats (4% to 15%).

National Satisfaction Level Dips to 25%, One of Lowest Since 1979

PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans have a lot to be frustrated with these days, such as U.S. struggles in Iraq, record-high gas prices, and emerging gridlock between the Democratic Congress and Republican president.

The current 25% satisfaction level is very low by historical standards. Since Gallup first asked this question in 1979, the average percentage of Americans saying they are satisfied with conditions in the country is 43%.

Congressional Job Approval
According to the May 10-13, 2007, Gallup Poll, 29% of Americans approve and 64% disapprove of the way Congress is handling its job. Congressional approval is down 4 percentage points since last month, and is 3 points lower than the 32% average measured during the first five months of the year. The high point for the congressional approval rating so far this year was the 37% approval measured in February. Although ratings are quite low, Americans have been more positive in their assessments of Congress this year than last year, when an average of just 25% approved of Congress.

How is it possible that 73% of Republicans can still support this guy?

There is a difference between an incumbent and a political party.

Because they refuse to gobble down the kool-aide flavored pig slop that the Left-wing media dishes out about the man.

Riddle me this, domiguy - what are you going to do when you don't have President Bush to kick around anymore. Are you going to go into withdrawls, have convulsions and die or something?

I suppose it is difficult to drink your Kool-Aid when they are busy mortgaging their home to fill their gas tank to drive to the unemployment line because Bush and the Republican Congress offshored their job to India or banished their significant other to Mesopotamia.

On the bright side, the Mexicans will not be crossing the borders to steal our jobs soon enough, there won't be any.

4 years ago, I was listening to a couple of people talk.  One of them turned to the other and said...

"You know, I am starting to lose faith in George W. Bush."

There are so many things wrong with that sentence my fragile eggshell Dominant mind couldnt process.

I find that interesting since the Democrats dont seem to be talking about offshoring. But they all support illegal immigration which is driving down wages of unskilled workers.

That reminds me of a joke, about how Democrats have become the new Jehovah's Witnesses. Bush is the Devil on earth, the end is near, it's another great depression, hurricanes are Bush's fault, he caused 9/11, and on and on and on and on. But I can't tell that joke here, because so many here are so extremely sensitive.

Home ownership is at an all-time high, but that isn't the President's achievement - however, if someone buys more house than they can afford that is. Right? And it's the President's fault that Leftist Greens won't allow any new oil drilling, power plants of any kind, new refineries, or any other energy relief. And if terrorists strike it's his fault, but anything he does to fight them is wrong. Jobs have been being "outsourced" for years, but that's all his fault too - even if the economy is roaring along just fine anyway.

The end of the world is Bush's fault, and it's tomorrow - just ask brother Leftist, when he comes knocking at your door, with his pamphlets advertising the Cult of Global warming

Hrm.  Gas prices under Clinton were under $2.00 a gallon.  Gas prices are approaching $4.00 a gallon under AnencephalyBoy.  You may not realize this, but fuel prices impact every aspect of society.  People dont drive as much.  People dont go on trips.  Consumer goods cost more.  Companies have to downsize. Etc.

Douglas Adams wrote about Joo Janta Peril Sensitive Sunglasses in one of his books.

When faced with a dangerous situation, the lenses darkened to prevent the person wearing them from seeing any of the warning signs, to give them a cool and relaxed feeling that all was well.

Where did you buy your pair, Sanity?

Opinion Poll Results, like Election Results are just made up.

The ONLY need to "Believable" by enough people that it seems plausable.

That's why a ticket like Clinton/Spitzer is viable. It's not ELECTABLE, but it's ELECTABLE ENOUGH that when the fake results are announced, it'll SEEM PLAUSABLE ENOUGH.
