what are the mjic words to make the code enforement go away.  all under direction of the mayor- and quite petty.  most areas have more serious things going on....

how do i get the city off my back?

I will concede that I haven't followed your home purchase and the moving-in part....so I'm not up to date. But let me ask you, have you at all considered attaining counsel to address these problems?

Believe it or not, if they are seriously petty issues like I'm reading {Dandelions?!!?}, sometimes a few eloquent sentences, combined to form a mild threat, with a little embossed, gold-leaf letterhead {maybe mentioning that they are picking on you because they don't like gays}, sometimes gets them to back off.

A short letter like that might cost you between a-hundred and two-hundred bucks, but I think it would be to your advantage to at least talk to an attorney briefly.

For the same two hundred bucks, you could just *thank* the code-enforcement-officer with a "New Suit".

puella -> RE: farglebagle- i got a job for u HELP (5/17/2007 5:52:12 AM)

The problem with dandelions is that your problem becomes my problem.  I spent a fortune (and an ass load of work and time) repairing my lawn... however my less savory neighbors do not care, which is fine except that they have  bazillions of dandelions which turned to fluff and have blown into my yard and rendered my investment into lawn maintenance null and void.  People get fined for throwing trash onto your property, this really is no different.

General response ...

To me, this is just a chill pill situation where you need to stop feeling singled out and remember that these rules are put in place for a reason. Puella pointed out the spread of dandelions, which is a genuine concern.

We had this neighbor two winters ago, plant fescue grass in his yard over the winter, which is against our homeowners association. Nobody really said anything, and over the winter, his yard looked pretty nice. Part of our yard looked nice too, because all his seed blew all over our yard. When the weather started getting hot, the fescue, which had taken over our grass, all died. More than half our front yard and about a third of the back was dead. It cost twenty pallets of grass at $150 a pallet, and about a thousand dollars in labor, to get the lawn back in shape ... not to mention the fines for using too much water.

Funny, our neighbor never offered to pay the 5K he caused in damage to our lawn.

DesertRat -> RE: farglebagle- i got a job for u HELP (5/17/2007 7:27:34 AM)

I agree with the "chill pill" suggestion. Those rules are there for a reason, and maybe you need a lesson in reality. You're not gonna change the rules, and any kind of bribe/threat solution is only a temporary fix...ya fight 'em off now and they keep coming back over and over.  If you don't like the rules, then move.

Ok- I think I found the appropriate complaint mechanism.  this begs the question over the meaning of life- the meaning of stuff.

frankly- i do have the matress money and can just walk away if i so choose.

the last place i lived was a classsier zip code- we never had the code guy on us.

think- we had cold weather up to even a few days ago. 1/2 the town is dandilions.

what about homes taht now are going abck to the natural grassland as per ecosystems?

the point is- im  a criminal simply by existing. it isnt that weeds have been in the way 8 months.

anyhow- the place is for sale by owner right now, the realtor doesnt think i should list it.

pahunkboy -> RE: farglebagle- i got a job for u HELP (5/17/2007 9:09:28 AM)

the start of a solution:

my psychiatrist is going to write up a letter. this letter will be placed in my file at city hall.

luckydog1 -> RE: farglebagle- i got a job for u HELP (5/17/2007 10:30:46 AM)

Maybe this is too simple, but why don't you spend 10 minutes and just mow the lawn?  As Puella noted letting dandelions go to seed does affect your neighbors.

KatyLied -> RE: farglebagle- i got a job for u HELP (5/17/2007 10:35:16 AM)

I have to admit that I too, am at a loss about the mowing.  In all of the time we've discussed this you could've mowed and applied treatment to stop the spread of the dandelions.  You are now singling yourself out (letter from the pdoc) for special attention, which may not always be positive.

Termyn8or -> RE: farglebagle- i got a job for u HELP (5/17/2007 1:06:29 PM)

Actually I like dandilions. I really do. They were made extict in my neighborhood. I can't get any, I doubt my neighbors would like it if I did, but I am not so sure I care.

Play the gay card. I mean it. The government is full of scumbags at all levels and they are using an unfair advantage to extort from people. Even if you are not being discriminated against, use it as a tool. When you call the ACLU or whoever you call to do this, don't muddy the situation up with the fact that the mayor owns a bunch of property, merely cite it's condition versus that of your property. Get a camera. Note the frequency of these 'visits' and you'll pretty much sic the feds on them. Claim it's a hate crime.

I mean that, read the hate crime legislation already on the books, and there is more coming, but claim they are tying to get you out because they don't like your type. They started the fight, and they are bigger than you. Use EVERY tool at your disposal to win.

You owe them no allegiance, fairness or even decency. You owe them a REALLY big can of fucking worms, to make them afraid to open a can of worms in the future.

If you live in a "Home Rule" state or city, you give up your Constitutional rights to live there, but not your civil rights. Playing the gay card is your best bet at this point in time. Trump them.

as it turns out a lesbien couple did in fact live here with 6 children. the surrounding neighbors reported them to children and youth and endlessly complained.

i hesitate to play the gay card- ----i got my haircut and u know how hairdressers know everything.  welll she said- they leave u alone unless someone calls in a complaint.

when i tell someone im gay- i can never reverse that.

also- i am thinking it is PENNDOTs responsility- as it is the edge of state highway.

looking at the website- the have a 3 warning policy.   so here i am at 2.

im consdierring also complaining on the place being over assessed.

Listen. You first of all need a copy of the code book. Were you supplied with one when sited? If not thats an infraction on thier part. I hope you didnt get one. Administratively, thats a no-no. Secondly, you must go thru the code book carefully and see how it pertains to you. Next you need to find out when the next meeting is and show up with your book, story, problem and solutions in hand and heart. If need be, take your conviction to the court before paying any fines.
You need to treat this as the adminisration matter that it is.
