Just need to rant about this and vent....why do people not understand that SOME of us have a life away from our computers? Today I recieved a VERY rude email from someone because apparantly I didn't respond to his message quickly enough.....This has happened to me a couple times and I just don't get it.

Do some people have such boring lives that they just sit in front of their computer ALL day with nothing to do but immediately answer messages?

Am I the only person who has, ya know, a LIFE?

I check my messages several times a day...depending on how busy I am, I may or may not respond. Sometimes I just respond to the most important ones and save the others for a time later the next day when I know I will have time.

Is it because some people have internet at work and don't understand that we don't all have the luxury of spending time on the internet at work?

I mean what causes that mindset?  I mean, I know it's the weekend but there could have been a million reasons I didn't have time to respond to my emails.

Maybe I was out of town...Maybe I had company...maybe I just didn't feel like getting on the computer for any significant length of time?

Let's see, why might it be that I didn't have time to respond to EVERY email I got this weekend? Hmm..well, in the last two days I had dinner with my best friend, had breakfast with my parents, watched a movie with my mom, exercised 4 horses, cleaned 5 horse stalls twice,  cleaned my whole house, did 3 loads of laundry, water changed my aquariums, took my dogs for walks every day, exercised twice, cooked twice, and made a 60 mile round trip to the nearest large town? Could those possibly be reasons why I don't stay RIVETED to my computer screen anxiously awaiting every incoming response and just dying to reply to it?

Geez, folks...for those of you don't have a life outside your computer, at least have a little compassion for those of us who DO.

*sorry* just had to get that off my chest.

End Rant.

Look at it this way, that will be one less person that will be sucking the time that you do have to answer emails away from those that really matter.

You're right of course...I just find it annoying. I mean, his attitude was like I was purposefully ignoring him....why doesn't it occur to people that "single, submissive, and looking" doesn't = obsesssed with sitting around talking to online dominants? It's just frustrating to get insulted and cussed at for having a life. Sad thing is I actually had every intention of responding to him ORIGINALLY.

I completely understand.  I get unsolicited e-mail all the time asking for things I have already specified I won't give in my profile.  When I don't answer quickly (sometimes within a few hours) I often get rude messages about my lack of courtesy.  It's ridiculous.  I answer every e-mail I get, just not on anyone else's schedule.  I have an eight month old unmentionable, a husband, and a house to take care of.  And when I cook every night, do all the cleaning, mow the yard and the rest of the yardwork, run all the errands, pay all the bills, take out the trash, take care of my baby and do everything but poop for the rest of the family, it's a bit hard to find extra time.  So, trust me, I understand.

However, people are people.  It's best to just let it roll off.  You can drive yourself nuts getting angry at other people.  There are always going to be good ones, and there are always going to be sucky ones.  I ignore the sucky ones and befriend the good.

Geeky,

I am simply appalled that you do not spend every single moment of your time sitting in front of your computer searching for a Dominant. It is completely clear to me now that you are not a twue or weal sub. You know that your having a life away from this infernal box is a clear indication that you are a fake.

PS
I am also very angry that you have not answered my response even though I haven't even sent it yet. Why the unmitigated gall in calling yourself a submissive. Really!

I have to agree with Julia, just know when people are rude to you in that manner, then they are not going to have that chance to meet you face to face so, this is their loss.  Better to find this out early enough and move on.

There is another thread somwhere where...

1)  A person posted a link.

2)  (I watched the video, which, will marginally interesting, did not make me feel like responding)

3)  The person complained that nobody read the post since nobody responded.

4)  I responded that I have this thing called an actual life, and I did not feel it was important to me to respond to.

5)  I pointed out this was not synonymous with not having read the post.

6)  I was attacked by a poster for being rude and insensitive.

The only thing I can suggest, Geekygirl, is that no matter what you do in life, there will always be somebody who
objects, complains, or whatever.

From my perspective, I love your posts and I think you are just fine the way you are.

I have sent "You didnt reply fast enough" messages out in my time, when the party I am speaking to was interested, has spoken to me already and read a message without reply for days after it was marked read. Aside from that, I have no reasonable expectation that I will get a reply at all, much ess in a timeframe *I* have decided is good.
Somehow, it doesnt strike me as good way to impress a submissive with your Dominant Nature if you are immature and impatient about something as minor as an email. If you cant wait for that then how on earth are they going to be confident you are going to be able to handle other things better?
Those who cannot wait, delete and move on. The Mantra for this place, essentially. One more marker that it is a bad fit. Until you are owned, anyone who assumes you spend your time hanging on their word and waiting eagerly to see a message from them is out of place. After some time when you are speaking regularly, yes faster emails are better. But when its a first or even second or third... CHILL. Its the internet, after all. As I have told impatient little boys who IM me incessatly when I havent responded fast enough (a pet peeve) Just becasue I am online doesnt mean I am online to talk to YOU.  There ar other things I have to do on here and if you cant wait for me to get them done, then you dont need to be speaking to me at all. Real life comes first, online comes second.

Because some of us like to vent when we're frustrated. Some us find it cathartic and find that it calms us down to get our words on paper/text.

Thanks Sinergy :) I always enjoy your posts as well.

I guess it's just as well to find out the impatient ones ahead of time. If they can't deal with my busy life when we're talking online, they could never deal with it in real life!

That is OK, Geeky.  It just feels good to vent and blow off some steam from time to time.
We all get idiotic messages.  That is the reason for the "block" and "delete" keys.

i'm odd in that i very rarely will message someone *first*.  and with people i know (or would like to) if they say "hey, need to get busy with something" i'm understanding of that.

odd, that.

Advise rude sender that their initial email was later than you expected, so it delayed your reply.

It's amazing how crazy people will get when you don't respond to emails or even IM's fast enough. I've been called all kinds of names, sent boot codes, and threatened with viruses in Kansas chatrooms when I don't respond in a few seconds because I'm receiving multiple IM's. There are alot of psychos out there. Better to learn of a person's unhealthy mental state now than during a session when you're tied, gagged, and helpless.

Now, this one is funny, because I usually don't consider Myself a patient person.

If I don't get a response to an email within a week, I just consider the person not interested and move on.

The problem with blocking people is they may post something completely inane and/or idiotic which the person doing the blocking would miss the opportunity to ridicule.
